Let the IMLP taper begin!

I am bored already…

…and feeling like a fat slob…

…I am driving my wife crazy…

…need mental coping strategies…

…help.

Eeek I still have some hard training left this weekend. Long brick on Sat and the last 18 mile run on Sunday.

Then the taper and calorie counting…

This is my first Full IM. Needless to say, I am a little nervous.

This weekend is my last “big” weekend as well. Long Run on Saturday and a medium brick on Sunday.
Possibly a nice swim in Mirror lake as well.

Taper starts middle of next week (wed. for me).

I did my last big swim today and a long bike/run brick tomorrow, then my taper starts. I’m off on Sunday and I’m going to ENJOY IT!!

Let me just say that if there are waves in LP for the swim, then I am totally screwed. I tried to do an open water swim today in Lake Ontario with little puny waves and I bagged it after only 12 minutes of swimming. I jumped into the pool instead. I’m a total wimp when it comes to waves, so I’m praying for calm water come July 22nd.

The lake is usually pretty calm early in the AM. If there is a chop at the swim start, we are all in for a long windy day.

Mirror lake should be hopefully mellow, it’s a small lake. I was actually just swimming off Cherry Beach last night, not too bad. Swan at Sunnyside Sunday night, and froze despite the wetsuit. So much warmer at Cherry Beach.

I was at Cherry Beach today and I thought it was brutally cold. It hurt my face to put it in the water!! I can only imagine how cold Sunnyside was! Of course, I’m assuming Cherry Beach is the one that’s at the foot of Woodbine. Is that right?

I’m already two weeks into my IMLP taper. My legs were toast 4 weeks out so I went with a drastic taper of no more than one workout a day and nothing more that an hour. Week 2 of my taper was a begian ale every night… I’ve enjoyed that part. That is the only suggestion I can give.

Whaddaya mean, let it begin??? I’ve been tapering for two weeks now, ever since Dev Paul told me to do my last long bike back in June!! I haven’t started my beer taper yet, though, so there’s time…

My peak volume was 32 hours 2 weeks ago, dropped to 27 hrs last week and added 2 interval workouts on the bike. This week I am doing intervals and intensity like crazy and at 21ish hrs. Next week I’ll still be doing tons of intensity but at a lot less volume, probably about 15hrs total, and then race week is all about staying loose.

Is that you Eddy?

32 freaking hours in one week!! Holy crap! That’s practically my monthly total!!!

I back off running alot since my foot still hurts, ran milage last week 12.

Other than not being able to run, I am doing great. Trying to keep the calorie intake down.

Ahh, who the hell am I kidding ,I’ll be fine, nothing 4-6 Aleeve can’t solve.

Jesus lets race already.

Yeah, that’s almost exactly like my program. After Mooseman I did an easy recovery week, then a big three week block of 31:45, 30:30, and 28:08. First time I had ever hit 30+ in one week, let alone 90+ over three weeks. That was cool. This week will finish at ~22. See everybody in two weeks!

Too early for tapering…it begins on Monday for me.

It was a big week. In fact I took 2 days that week pretty easy, maybe 2 hrs training a day. I went to LP for 4 days at the end of the week and trained 5-8 hrs a day everyday.

“31:45, 30:30, and 28:08” jeez man, I expect a sub 10 from you CCF.

Good luck.

KP

wow that is big
see you at the swim in LP

Thom.

Hey-

I’ll be at Placid tomorrow for 2 loops at Mirror and 1 loop of the bike . Starting around 8 am.

This weekend is my last “big” weekend as well. Long Run on Saturday and a medium brick on Sunday.
Possibly a nice swim in Mirror lake as well.

Me too! and here are all my “I didn’t do enough!!!” fears starting up…I think we chose a heck of a race to debut the distance. Even with going up and training there twice, I still am scared of loop 2…of all three sports!
