I just read the review of the Barolo in Tiathlete and one of the only complaints was just the one bottle mount on the frame. I have seen a couple of Barolos and noted that, as well. Check out Lessing’s set-up for IMC. Is this special for him or is Javelin changing this on production frames?

It’s the same bike, except the Barolo has carbon chain stays instead of aluminium, like the Arcole.
BTW…I wish my Arcole had a place to stick water bottles like Lessings! Only having capacity for one is pretty limiting.
Don’t let Tom D see that bike … it looks like a Mavic Cosmic up front and seems to me Tom mentioned they were ok for training but too heavy for racing
Take a look at Simon’s position on his bike now. Pics on Ironmanlive.com. Seems much further forward and much lower in front.
They are quite heavy. But weight is pretty overrated, even rotating mass. They are not great wheels, but I imagine they pay Simon enough to make up for it.
Weights:
Clincher: front 787 g, rear 978 g (ED 10)
Tubular: front 762 g, rear 953 g (ED 10)
To compare:
Zipp 404 Tubular: 700c front- 565g rear- 680g
HED Alps Tubular: 700c front- 650g rear- 890g
They are not super aero either. Lots of better wheels out there. But if you are getting paid instead of paying to ride wheels, that makes a big difference… I’m suprised he doesn’t ride an Io/Comete setup, though…
The new 06 Barolos will be out soon, I will have a review up in about a month or so, 2 weeks after Interbike I suppose

Power drill and riv-nuts. It takes about 10 minutes if you are completely anal and slow about it. Any high-end bike shop should be able to do this for you.

Ah, just spill the beans. Javelin won’t mind…any PR is good PR. Can you at least answer these two questions: Same materials (AL and carbon rear) or different? What color?
In what regard? They ARE very heavy. And I’ve not seen any data that lists them as being magic aerodynamically. As I said, weight is very overrated, but I still think there are superior wheels out there for less/equal money. If you are going to make a statement like that, please don’t be enigmatic about it. Say something to back it up. I am willing to admit when I’m wrong, but I don’t see where I’m off base on this one…
You are right about the Mavics…my Shamals are “heavy”…but everyone who has ever ridden them agrees that they are fast as stink.
Just look at the results - that particular wheel has more classic wins than any other deep section wheel in the pros. The bearings and hubs are fantastic - Mavic makes some of the best in the industry. If you are big, then you will appreciate the fact that these wheels are extremely stiff. If you look at the reviews the consistent message is “fast”. Sure, they are expensive, but they are a lot less expensive than the 404’s and only a couple hundred bucks more than the Alps which, in my opinion, are not in the same class.
If I were looking at a spoked deep section clincher rim for time trials, these would be on the list ahead of the Zipps, the Hed Alps, AmClassic Zipps and other Zipp knock offs, any of the Real Design wheels, and, well, I think you get the idea. Swap out tubulars for clinchers and Zipp moves ahead, but the rest of the order stays the same. Bring price in to the picture and suddenly the Mavics look affordable - $400 less than the Zipps, $400 less than the Velomax equiv, $250 more than the Alps. So, superior wheels at less/equal money? Not that I can tell.
