Just saw this on their website. Kind of a funny business decision in my opinion, but whatever.

I’m sorry, I like Lemond bikes and think their carbon/aluminum road creations are really sexy bikes, but do these two tri bikes turn ANYONE on?? Don’t do it for me, especially the graphics… Maybe they’d look better in smaller sizes
Ya, there’s a lot that they don’t do very well (handlebars, fork, paint). But, they all have 77* seat angles and relatively short headtubes.
Does Trek really think this is going to reach a different market than their existing tri bikes?
actually maybe it’s smart move in a way. say the only shop you really go to is a trek dealer, chances are they are only going to have Trek, Lemond, maybe Klein in the shop. At least now customers have two choices to look at in tri bikes… Might actually boost Trek sales versus the customer going to another shop to compare. And hell, they are nice bike, we just want really sweet looking bikes, we’re spoiled;)
Poorly spec’d, fugly bikes.
Nuff said.
Believe it or not, there are some Lemond only dealers out there. These bikes are for them. Oh, and there was an American who could tt BEFORE Lance.
That being said, they do seem to be a couple years behind the curve.
With the research and knowledge available to Lemond, this is really a weak offering.
Any idea what the price points will be? Neither bike impresses the heck out of me, but if the 105-specked bike can really push the lower end market, it might be good for consumers (especially with the QR Kilo abandoning the intro market).
Haven’t seen one of these in the flesh yet so it’s hard to tell.
Some of my roadie friends really like Lemond road bikes. I also have a steel/carbon Beunos Aires frame upspec’d with dura-ace, Reynolds fork, etc and just love it as my roadie. But this tri bike seems not like start of the art. An entry level tri bike doesn’t have to be dumbed down. Just look at the Cervelo Dual for example.
Lemond typically has an eye for class and produces classy bikes, but tri bikes are anything but classy.
