Lemond Rev trainer and apartments

Ok, I’m moving into a brand new, still being built apt and pretty much have my choice of units.

They have laminate floors in the living room and I have a Lemond Rev trainer. What would I need to put under it to dampen the noise if I were on on of the 2-4th floor units? I think I’d be ok on the first floor but do I really want to be on the first floor (even though it’s a secured property). Non-first floor units have balconies and first floor has patio.

Also, any ideas of storing 4 bikes in a 1-bd apt? No, selling any of them is not an option. They are all for different purposes.

Go to a hardware store and pick up some foam mats that people use to line their garage floors. They fit together as puzzle pieces are are also sometimes marketed as mats for children’s play areas. 3 squares fits perfectly under a trainer and also keeps the floor clean of sweat/saliva/blood. These really helped when my fat sedentary downstairs neighbors started complaining that my trainer noise was interrupting their endless TV/internet watching.

As for bikes, get some solid hooks and a stud finder while you’re at the hardware store. Install the hooks in the ceiling of one for your rooms and hang your bikes up by alternating front/back wheels.

ps. Aren’t you a little old to be living ghetto student style?

In addition to what mtlrunner said about the mats, put some plywood over the top of them to give a little more stability.

Or go to a feed & tack supply store and get “stall mat”.

Or make sure you get a ground-floor apartment.

Ha. For what I’m paying, I really doubt there will be any students there. This is a 6-month temporary relo situation until I decide where I want to be. And, it happens to fall right in the middle of when I need to be doing some very targeted velodrome training without access to a velodrome, hence the trainer workouts. If I would win the lottery and not have to move, that would be the ideal situation!

Thanks for the info.

Jaysus! I’m chalking it up to the forum glich Herbert mentioned. Either that or the forum and iPad do not want to play together nicely.

her point.

Also, any ideas of storing 4 bikes in a 1-bd apt?

Maybe one of those floor-to-ceiling telescoping storage racks? Most come with 2-bike storage but I think some can be expanded to hold four.

3 squares fits perfectly under a trainer and also keeps the floor clean of sweat/saliva/blood.

I am obviously not training properly…more HTFU needed for my trainer sessions.

If it’s only for 6 months take the first floor. It’s easier to move and get bikes, groceries ect. in and out.
