i have a piece of shit 2003 GMC Yukon with 51,000 miles. have had warranty repairs on AC compressor, front right bearings replaced, mirror/electronics replace, multiple mystery noises fixed/found, and now getting more AC work, have had some decorative side panels replaced as they were discoloring. i’m sick to death of every 3-4 months taking this vehicle in for another repair. all major systems have functioned well, just all this nickel and dime stuff.
anyone with knowledge about lemon laws in wisconsin and would this vehicle qualify?
Ah, I would’ve been faster, but I started to read the law to see how this person’s case might work (badly, I think).
I actually invoked the NJ Lemon Law on a Toyota many years ago, and it actually prompted action by the dealer. I think having a car declared a lemon might have messed up some quality statistics the dealer or Toyota had, so they took it seriously. The car was a Celica All-Trac (4wd, turbo, stock Celica!).

That will most likely be the key—“nickel and dime stuff”, not major items. Typically lemon laws require the same or similar items to require shop time of pretty significant magnitude in a relatively short time period. Invoking the Lemon Law on a vehicle 5 model years old might be tough, but if you really want to go down that path, start at the dealership level with the Service Manager and General Manager (presuming you’ve been taking your vehicle to a dealer and not an independent) and move up from there.
Interesting. I had an '03 Yukon XL, with many of the same problems. In SC it is 30 days(in the shop) within the warranty period then I can persue to lemon the thing. It was almost time up within the first 8 months, before the dealer worked on really repairing everything. Ended up getting rid of it, in favor of an X5. Like my wife’s 330ci, it has been wonderful.
I do this for a living, just checked the WI lemon laws for you. It can be bought back for the following.
Vehicle out of service for 30 days total due to issues.
4 repairs for the same issue
if you have taken it in for a particular issue and it is not resolved within a year.
Please realize this is a very general interpretation of these laws, I make no claims that your vehicle will be bought back but it’s certainly worth looking into. Given some of the buyback stuff I see, you got a good shot.
My company does Lemon Law work for several manufactors, doesn’t matter what you buy there is a chance of getting a bad car no matter what. However if you look at the numbers it comes out to less than 1% of vehicles produced for all manufactors.
