A year ago I did some foolish long distance running and biking and I injured a muscle/tendon behind my left knee. The pain didn’t go away so I went to a P.T. The P.T. said “wow, you over pronate, I’ll make an orthotic”. So the orthotic was made and I backed off for a few months.
Now, when I run in my shoes I get a tight muscle on the outside of right shin that usually goes away after a mile and a half . Last week with the tight shin muscle I took off my shoes and ran two miles in the grass. The tight shin muscle loosened up almost immediately.
In addition, after an easy 5k, I got my feet wet and I ran 50 or 60 feet in my bare wet feet so that I could look at the pattern of my feet on the concrete. It was a classic high arch. I could see no collapse of the arch that to me would indicate a pronated foot. Is my logic sound on this point?
I’m beginning to suspect that my P.T.'s diagnosis was wrong. Anybody have an opinion on this?
