LEGO Designer - this is cool! (well, in a geeky kind of way...)

Hey y’all… I just played around with the LEGO Factory Designer program, and it’s pretty cool!

It could use an expanded library of parts (gears are notably missing!), and I haven’t figured out how to get an axle through a hole in a piece, but in general, it’s pretty fun to work with.

I just used it to prototype a mechanism I’m thinking about…

And, apparently you can upload your design to LEGO, and order a CUSTOM build kit, including instructions and custom box graphics…

Sorry… I just got a little geeked out… I had 3-4 coffee cans full of these things as a kid… kept me entertained for days… I’ve still got my office and a shelf in the den littered with the new Star Wars models…

Oh, and thanks, Slowman, for getting the Advanced editor to work on Macs!

I will be designing my house out of Legos tonight and ordering it for the boys for christmas. thanks for the post.

Sincerely,
Fellow Geek

I don’t remember the details but there were issues with the early versions giving ridiculously high price quotes for simple sets - let me know if your house doesn’t come out too expensive. I wouldn’t mind taking a look at this again.

I love it, first poster says it’s cool in a geeky kiind of way, I sign off as fellow geek, and coincidentally your profile says you like geeky things.

who would’ve thought geeks could do sports (actually don’t ask me to do anything with hand-eye co-ordination; I don’t have any)
