Leg Swelling after Training/Racing

Any of you athletes ever experience leg swelling, particullarly after longer training and/or long hard races? A buddy of mine, knows his swell up (I guess he’s measured), it seems I get the same thing at times…didn’t know how normal this is?

yeah, I have this happen after a hard race/training day or any other time whn my legs tak alot of pounding.

Generally, lying on my back with my legs elevated for about 15-20 minutes does the trick. You can also massage your legs a little too.

Does this have to do with all the blood flow to the legs for long periods at a time? Is the elevation helping to level some of that blood flow to the rest of the body?

I’d say both…and it usualyly is accompanied by stiffness.

Dumb question…what’s DVT?
