I was at Rooms to Go and they tried to sell me a “new” treatment for leather as an add on to couches I bought–sort of like Scotchguard except that it supposedly works. I declined because I figure it is either a gimmick or I can buy the stuff somewhere and do it myself. Any of you folks know what treatment they are talking about–its not Mink Oil, etc.
Also, I have some older couches with seat cushions that have discolored/stained, and I was wondering what I can do about that.
I have done coats and boots , basically you need to wet the stain or water mark and get it to dry . Any piece can be re-oiled the problem is getting dry and oiled parts to match . The mink oil will absorb with some help from a hair dryer , excessive soaking of stitched threads can weaken them ( rare - more a problem on coats ) . see link below.
I use their products on furniture, jackets, (some) shoes, gloves, bike saddles, whatever. In case of emergency, when the 14 month old acts up on the couch, I just use car care stuff (Meguiar’s leather cleaner/conditioner).
