Leader Bicycles help!

Ok, I just ended my quest to find an XS Giant TCR aero frame. I am now looking at Leader Bikes. I am currently interested in their 730TT or 735TT in a size 50 (Center to top) frame. Or, it is a size 46 (center to center)? The company is selling a bunch of the frames for ridiculously low prices. Is that a bad thing?

Does anyone have any experience with the company and their bikes? Gary? Anyone?

Please enlighten me.

Thanks a bunch!

A couple of guys I see racing have purchased road and track frames from them and have been happy.

They are still more expensive than the frames from Bike Nashbar ($120 last time I looked) but the Leader frames are at least aero.

I see them on ebay, and I saw a guy riding one the other day. I did not get the chance to talk to him though. other than having a boring paint scheme i think tat they look like respectable bikes.

Also I think that you have to assemble them yourself. Just make sure you look at their return policy in case you decide that the bike is not for you.

Building the bike is fine. I have built all the bikes that I have owned. I am curious about quality and customer support.

I have been working with Leader on a few frames (6-8) for about a year now. My main interest was the 735TT frame with the smaller sizes. It was hard to get a small frame at a decent pricepoint for smaller framed riders. After building 5 of them, I have to say that I have been very happy with the frames and the riders are pleased as well.

Their pricepoint is a result of trying to break into the US market, or so I think, and the low eBay prices make it tough for dealers to make much of a profit. Therefore it’s tough for your LBS to carry them. I do feel that one day they will be a more serious consideration for more riders.

Actually, the other frames that we have worked with in the product line have gone to some serious athletes that purchase the bikes for training purposes on rainy days, etc. So they are seeing some serious, long-mileage use and they have held up perfectly.

I have never had a warranty issue, but I’m sure that Sal would jump through hoops to help. I don’t know of any frame manufacturer that wouldn’t consider taking the frame back if you didn’t like it/refused to ride it.

Just one opinion.
