Nice report Gonzo. Are those “official” pics or did you have someone there who took them? They are pretty good…I especially like the one where you are running and the others are walking. 
As a complete aside, how did Pete ever turn out after Pigman?
Speedy took those. He was all over on that course. He rented a bike and was able to zip back and forth to two different points on the bike course and multiple points on the run course. He may have ridden as much as me that day 
Speedy felt OK after finally getting IVs at the hospital. We did drive home that night (well, I drove, Speedy slept). That was one looooong day.
How was the atmosphere at the race?
I qualified three years in a row (not for next year) but never went, though I was tempted to go this year.
In the end I opted for IMWI instead (was already paid for). But, I found out that to me, IMNA isn’t all that. I prefer smaller races.
The LD race looks nice from your pictures!

The atmosphere was pretty relaxed and low key, especially compared to IMNA events (my last IMNA was in 2001 and I don’t plan to do another any time soon) and compared to SD worlds in Honolulu last year (I went to watch my brother race). But I liked that. There were about 600 competitors total and they ran 5 separate waves - elite men, elite women, all AG women, AG men 40+, men under 40.
I haven’t decided for certain but I may try to qualify for LD worlds again next year in France (although I’m somewhat disapointed that it will be 3/80/20 instead of 4/120/30 even though I’m better at the shorter distance).

Thanks, yes, I like low key races. Did the Blue Devil in NC last year with only ~ 150 people, my fave race so far.

Great Race! I thought it was a decent event overall, but still not happy with the fruit cocktail at the finish line. But oh well, we were in Australia. That’s what matters!
