What’s with parking in the fire lane at schools on weekends for sporting events? I have 2 boys and we’re constantly at schools in the area on weekends. Every single event at every school its the same thing. People parked in the fire lane. Schools can’t catch on fire on a weekend? Kids don’t get injured and need emergency services? I can’t believe the various cities don’t go after this revenue stream. of course, I can believe parents don’t want to walk an extra 100 feet.
Enroll my kid in a sports program, park in fire lane so its easier for me to walk to the field with my chair that I’m going to sit in for an hour.
One day I will finally make those pre-printed signs and post-its for drivers. This would be the perfect time to stick a “you are an inconsiderate, lazy asshole†post-it to their drivers’ side window.

But the parking lots are not full in the ones that we frequent. That’s what’s so head scratching about it. its a weird psychology thing too, everyone will park in a fire lane, clearly marked, but nobody parks in the handicapped spots?
Plenty parking is appropriate spots, big honking SUV decides need to pull onto grass next to entrance. Great when we have had substantial rain thus soft ground
Our city build a big beautiful sports complex with three all weather multi-use fields, three baseball/softball diamonds, playgrounds, BBQ areas, walking paths, and water features. They tried to have some parking close in especially handicapped parking spots, but placed overflow parking farther out so the beauty of the park was not destroyed by a vast sea of minivans.
Almost daily, some entitled soccer Mom will post on the local online paper how the parking is so terrible at the new sports park. That she could not park immediately adjacent to little Timmy’s soccer field and had to walk almost a quarter mile. Little Timmy was so tired by the time he got to the field he played horribly (don’t worry, he still got his participation trophy).

These are same the parents paying $4K a year for their precious ones to play “travel” soccer so that can one day earn a D1 scholarship.

I’m at the motocross track last week and a guy parks next to me with his handicap placard and proceeds to ride for two hours. Now it could have been his wife’s, father or someone else but people seem to take advantage of them.

I always see people parked in front of them. Where I learned to drive they painted the curb red in front of the hydrants so you knew how big of a space to leave.

No handicap spots at the motocross track. Like I said, it could have been for his parents. You never know, so I keep my mouth shut. I did tell a guy to move a few weeks back at the dry cleaner to move. He parked in the yellow area between two handicap spots, which is there for a reason, not for some lazy person to save a few steps.

I was always raised to leave around a car length on either side. Basically, don’t park so close that you would interfere with a fire truck, or wherever it was painted. Cause it will not go well for you if there’s an emergency and you are blocking it. I feel like painting the curbs has gotten cut in a lot of budgets.
I thoroughly enjoy calling the local bylaw office and reporting crap like that. I enjoy it even more when I see the bylaw patrol vehicle pull up, ready to get down to business.

Someone once passed me in a school zone in the children’s pickup lane.
Turns out he went to the same street I was living on. When we both got out of our cars I said “I assume you no longer have custody of your kids” and got the middle finger.
He was a realtor and the people he was representing saw all of this unfold in the driveway.
how about when you drive on a main road, (freeway, parkway) and your exit is always backed up for a good few hundreds yards. There is always some smart guy that will get right to the front and squeeze (sometime pretty aggressively) into your lane while you are way back. Happens all the time in two places I drive daily.
