What place will he finish? What will his splits be? He has clocked a 2:45 marathon.
Between 9:45 and 10:00…that’s my prediction.
Spot
Has he really been training for the IM? I know he did the fast marathon and can ride the legs off anyone else in the race, but has he said if he’s going out to “race” or just to “do” the IM? If he’s well trained and motivated, sub-10, possibly sub-9:30. If he’s just going out to do it, then who knows? All the fast marathon times in the world won’t mean anything in that case.

Swim: 1:07
Bike: 4:35
Run: 3:20
Add in some transition time …
I’ll go with around 9:15 if he paces the bike well
I think he will be close to 9 hours. He has said he wants to qualify, if I am not mistaken.
Yeah, but he never won the TdF and therefore is quite clearly a poser!

Ironman Switzerland
1h16 out of the water ! Good improves in the last month !!!
Wonder if he will lead the other triathletes to walk out against drug testing and police raids? Survived one of the nasty most crashes in history. I wonder if that is on U tube. I always like him as a rider. Good on him.
4h39 on bike : 31st at T2
.
He’s gonna be in the low - mid 9’s unless he falls apart on the run!
He is discovering the specificity of IM marathon : lost 12 places in the first loop (10,5km)
.
If he holds his place on last 10.5k loop, he’ll be finish about 9:15. Not too bad.
i think 9:15 is extraordinary for a first time ironman, despite ones background
.
He was steady on the run, excellent pacing. After giving up a few spots, it appears he got them back. 27th overall:

9:12 for your first Ironman at the age of 39 is just amazing, ex pro cyclist or not.Well done Laurent!!!
I agree. Very impressive! He has to be one of the most versatile endurance athletes ever.
While an incredible time for a first ironman (I think Jalabert is 38), based on his credentials, it further amazes me how awesome the professional ironmen are.
