Annoying question of the day…I got a slow flat this weekend and wanted to see if anyone has had any luck using the Cafe Latex Espresso or the Hutchinson Fast Air? Currently I an running Vittoria SC’s with Zipp valve extenders. I am not all that interested in removing the whole tire to inject latex…hence my question. Has any on had any luck using these CO2 based latex inflators WITH zipp extenders. I have heard it can gum up the valve core…but judging from the videos/pics online it seems like it should work…
To answer my own question…the Hutchinson work if you cut off the plastic end and pass the hose over the end of the Zipp extender. Keep in mind however that the plastic end acts as a one-way valve so you will get some latext/CO2 running back through the inflator when the pressure inside is less than that of the tire…a little messy but my flat is fixed.
Why not just remove the valve core? You dont need to remove the tire tube todo that.
Vittoria tires with the new valves…core is NOT removeable…the entire stem comes out so instead of paying $35 for the extenders I bought the cheapo Zipp ones…clearly a poor choice IF you get a flat

Because the valve core is not accessible when using the Zipp extenders. And also because depending on the vintage of Vittoria tubulars they don’t have removable valve cores. The newer Vittoria’s have removable stems that disconnect right at the base which you definitely don’t want to remove for a glued tubular if you ever hope to get the stem back on without having to remove and reglue the tire.
