Late season 1/2 IM?

I need a good late season Half IM preferably with easy travel from Park City, UT so desert southwest or Cali? Also, preferrably someplace fun to relax for a couple days after. Any favorite venues / races out there for mid sept to end of Oct??

SOMA here in Tempe is nice. Its in the same place as IMAZ adn was well run from what I have seen. I was at the swim exit directing people and stripping wetsuits last year. Wicked fun, great weather, nice place and on Oct 28th.

rpom, whats the scene at Kahuna in Santa Cruz? That one caught my eye on a calendar the other day. Any recommendations on lodging in that area?

SOMA is a good race in end of Oct. Also this year the Silverman in Vegas has a half on Nov 11th.

There’ve been a few recent threads on it so I’d do a search. I’ve never done the race myself, but there’s some good lodging options up there from either conventional hotels, B&B’s, and here’s links to some houses/condos:

Overall I’d say a great destination if you’ve never been there. Has the beach/boardwalk and plenty to do, a very nice place.
