The Lansing 1/2 Ironman is planned for next Sunday 8/15. I’ve heard there will be a solid turn-out for this first time event and don’t want to miss the chance to race so close to home with so many friends and quality athletes. (OK, I have 2 questions)
Question 1: having just completed Lake Placid (IM) on 7/25, is it too early to try to get back out there and race? I went out yesterday for my first run post race (3.5miles) and felt “ok”. I can still feel the deep fatique in my body as I’ve been sleeping quite a bit, but physically, I feel “ok” (I think).
Question 2: How much training/what types of training would you do between now and the race to prep yourself for it? Obviously, I have the base/endurance to handle the distance…just not sure if I should do ANY intensity type training this weekend or early next week to get my legs “ready” for the race?
Thanks any tips are welcome. (This likely be the last chance I can race until late September due to work and family obligations.)
