Interesting. No airfoil shapes that I can see…

Actually they are airfoils that have been cut down on the trailing edge. A technique used in aircraft for years.

You learn something new everyday on ST
.

Nice to see those tube shapes up close. They are apparently the answer to exceeding the 3:1 aerofoil ratio imposed by the uci. Certainly didn’t slow down contador today…

I don’t know about the bike but I really like the quote.

Hutchinson tire?!?!? WTF

matt, fyi bad link in your sig, which is sort of ironic given the ad. hope you get that cleared up soonish!

Agreed, curious choice on the hutchinson. Could it be a prototype?
He’s rocking one of the Bontrager race XXX’s on the front.

I likes this bike BTW. Its hot, but not in yellow.

I don’t know if the pic of the hutch is from the bike he rode today. The bike from today is completely yellow. That fork is silver. Maybe it was a training bike?

Nice thread!

Purely an aesthetic judgement, but I think the integrated stem/bar on this Trek is really fugly. The new Specialized and Giant appear to be better integrated and “look” more aero.

The “Hutchinson” is a Dugast. Forget the exact model. They just use Hutchinson’s tread for that particular tire. Lance has always ridden Hutchinsons, which have always really been Dugasts (with a Hutchinson made tread).

…and have been stored for at least 6 years in Julien DeVries’ cellar in Belgium before using

Anybody know what’s up with the characters on the bike and the rear wheel. Sweet looking but unusual color pattern with the yellow and blue. The things I would do to own a bike like that…

doesn’t LA read Slowtwitch? Otherwise he would be on clinchers, lol

Cars, yes, but which aircraft?

the decals are gay

Eye of the beholder I guess because I feel the opposite. I don’t usually have strong opinions on bike porn and such but I must say I think this bike is beyond beautiful (in black).

how does this compare to a sharp trailing edge in wind tunnel tests for aircraft?
