Maybe there is something between you and Roadhouse, but I do not understand your post.
I think I saw little weiner Trash Talk in there.

That is the type of riding that gives cycling a bad name in some circles.
Not good.

Times 4 or 5 … Cutting off cars is just stupid and riding like they were not smart.
I dont know maybe I am getting older. Coming from someone that still does daffies, backscratcher’s and helicopters on skii’s and waterskis. Cannot pull off the Heli anymore though. I can bunnyhop a bike, ride no handed, ride a wheelie on a fixie skid change change lanes and what not but why in the middle of a intersection or busy street? Cutting off someone that is not expecting it is asking for someone else that is innocent from anything going on to get hurt. Maybe I have just seen to many people hurt by someone elses reckless behavior. There is a time and place for everything.
What don’t you understand? I would be happy to spell it out for you.
I really want a fixie now. Nice link

It seems that you are not only getting older, but also wiser.
There is no excuse for that type of reckless bike riding behavior on the streets. Showing that behavior on a video as a fun thing is wrong in many ways.

Excellent article. Just wondering if you have taken the time to understand it. From your earlier post, OWNING the road infers an offensive and aggressive riding style. If you had stated you were an alert
defensive rider I probably would not have reacted to your statement. I have scrapped to many cyclists off the pavement due to arrogance or stupidity. It is our responsibility as riders to stay safe as it is explained in the article.
Kind of ironic we just scraped one off the ground 10 minutes ago. Though i believe he was a bit under the influence of some things and only using his bike as a means of transportation. 9 times out of ten it is the ones that are “joy” riding and reckless that come out of it without a scratch on them.
i sure do understand the article as is written and understood from the author’s perspective
.
i would describe myself as a mix between a veloquent and volatile cyclist according to the author as i am very aware and am i very caring and at times very unpredictable, so much so tthat i don’t even know what i’m gonna do until i cross that fork in the road so to speak and am not really too bothered in being a group ride leader and thing of that nature, that just leads to more people such as yourself shoving their rulebook right opinions down my throat. I can handle it as it’s common and i’m not taking offense at all.
Exactly. Last tour though we had a 18 yr old go through the windshield off a parked car while he was descending a steep side street when a car came around the corner. Pretty shredded up w/femur fracture, rib fractures and radius ulna compound fracture. He was wearing a helmet but I haven’t heard if he can feel his legs yet.
That sucks for him. Hope he makes it out okay.
It has nothing to do with rule books. Some people call it common sense , some call it wisdom. Regardless, as we mature through life, we realize that in order to survive we need to take a more direct responsibility for our safety. I’m just tryng to pass it on. Once you have children you’ll understand.
you are assuming that i know nothing of myself or of children when in fact i adore and respect both, moreso children. women ‘woo’ me all the time because of how good I am with them , how naturally competent and protective and loving and confident i am with children when they are in my arms or in my vicinity. children instantly feel safe with me, fall asleep and quiet down in my arms. just because i don’t have my own doesn’t necessarily mean i am not overly aware of the obstruction in your own advice to myself.
i’m not out to cause a wreck or kill myself or put anyone off, i can just handle a bike better than most and my personal admiration for containing a God given bike skillset is just that, my own.
I’m good with everyone on the road, just so you know.
One thing you have to admit about LA, regardless of how you feel about him, the man loves to ride a bike. From that smile you can tell he will ride until his days are over. Irresponsible? Probably. Reckless? No doubt. Is he having a blast? Sure looks that way. Not too many pro cyclists sign themselves up for Leadville and win it. Also not too many playing urban toreador with no helmet on a fixed gear in a major city. Pretty broad experience for a bike rider.
you got it, bub!
one thing feel i need to explain on something i said earlier. yes, there is a very well known extremely fast and furious racer ride known as The Death Ride to those who have no skill and yes, it is full on racers, from beginners who get dropped (yours truly but at the 30 mile park out of 32), to full on world elitist pros ( The Mightier Than All Sir WB aka The Texas Cycling Gawd and Dr. Super Dave Boyd back in the day who would also go and run some ten miles directly after the ‘race’ and who knows what else that man would do, probably climb a building after that) at speeds in excess of 36-37 mph in twisty chip ‘n’ seal road construction going on and vehicles everywhere and then some conditions but it is not as brash or as neglectful to traffic as how i may have made it sound. it is fast, super fast and it is tuff something extra fierce and the course runs all through Downtown Houston and beyond and at night, dark with time changes, and through many lights which in itself is half of the race and if you get caught up you had better pray that the leaders get caught too somewhere up the road or you will find yourself alone but traffic laws are obeyed for the most part, grudgingly, and i’ve witnessed and participated in ‘just blasting’ in it which could be considered dangerous to many on here and i guess it is but again, skills trump that easy but the rules of the road ALWAYS apply, something the store that holds these rides insist on as do they all.
everyone on these *rides always has a smile on their face, like Lance in his video as we all just love to ride bicycles…fast. the best group ride by far in Houston so if down and you think you got what it takes then bring your best 'A" game, you’ll need it.
*unofficial race each and every time.
