I was looking at the new pics of Lance from this Tour and I noticed that he is using a down-tube shifter. If you look closely you will see it. I then found some previous Tour pics, and he had the standard set up. Does anyone know what the deal is?

I thought he did this, and other riders, to lighten the bike on mountain stages.
I think I remember that he used the down tube shifters for the mountain stages. I am sure somebody here will know the whole story.
he uses a non-sti front shifter on the mountain stages to lighten up the bike.
