Lance Position

Saw the chronicals this evening and it looked like Lance measured his saddle nose to center BB with a T square and got 10,5 cm on his road bike. Not sure if that was correct of what they were doing.
I ride a layed back 9cm, but that puts him further than me by a fair amount and would put him on a Less than 73 seat angle bike or a way offset seat post to even get that far back. I always ride with the seat nailed to the rails back on every bike except my 72.5 seat angle bike. Can anyone confirm this? I know big Eddy’s bikes sometime reviewed out at less than 72 on Axel’s frame some time ago.

Sounds like Lance is riding what John Cobb calls the “big slam” position which is just a Euro pro position with the seat back on the rails and lowered somewhat. John mentions putting the seat 9 cm behind the BB for a 5’8"/5’9" rider and increases it for taller riders. Lance is probably at 72 degrees or less.
