CNN is now wondering if he is running for office…jesus…that is sick.
Lance I guess (according to CNN) is speculating that Lance is a Democrap based on a comment that he thinks that some of the money being spent in Iraq could go to cancer…
John the idiot Kerry said that if Lance does run for office he would hope that he (Lance) makes the right decision on the right party to join…
WTF…dont these people have anything that is actual news to talk about?
I think he can be perfect for American politics.
Cycling is more tactical than bodybuilding. So at least he can run California.
How sad that a country admire celebrities so much that they want famous people to shape their foreign affairs, social policies, legislation and governance.
He is a useless celebrity now. What else can he do?
He has no background for the job, but has been to many talk shows and interviews, and he is from Texas -
perfect for the job!!!
He is more clever than Bush. But that’s easy.
I think Mr Tibbs should be the next president. He is now a famous person, he has nothing to do and he is from Texas.
Yeah, there were some rumors a little while ago. Apparently he said that he was interested in running for governor of texas–not in the coming election, but in the one after that. He is definitely a republican AND an atheist, so that could make things interesting.
Personally, I don’t think we should be electing people on star power, but that’s just me.
Would it be better to vote for someone who is a “known quantity” like Lance rather than just for whomever the Repubs or the Dems happen to put on the ticket?
At least the people voting will actually know something about him. Whether or not that is relevant isn’t the issue.
Like every Nike athlete, it seems like Lance does not express any kinds of views that may be considered controversial. With that said, I was very disappointed to see what I thought was a pro-George Bush quote in Velo news before last year’s tour. It was something about “Bush is going to win and that’s it.” I might be misquoting him somewhat, and I’m not sure of the context of the quote. However, with that said, he did have a good quote in GQ critisizing Bush for his religious zeal.

And the qualifications to run for office are what, exactly?
Money? Check.
Face and name recognition? Check.
Apperent intelligence? Check.
An inspiring backstory? Check.
A winning smile? Check.
Killer instinct? Check.
Ego? Check.
Multi-liingual? Yeah, right. But … check.
World traveller? Check.
intimately familiar with foreign countires and culturals? Check.
An issue or cause around which to build a political identity? Check. And check again.
I could go on. But, I won’t. Lance seems far more qualified than the majority (and that’s not a swipe at Repubs) of the bozos currently serving in office.
yeah. but i’m trying to ween myself from the cynicism. as a recently new coloradoan, the more i learn about colorado politics, the more i like my pugs. on one side, you’ve got the focus on the family juggernaut and the other (much less organized) side you’ve got stinky hippies advocating MJ legalization and organic toilet paper. it’s weird out here. at least in vegas the issues were easy to understand: strip clubs and gambling!
I’m in favor of legalization, organic toilet paper, strip clubs and gambling.
And I also don’t care what Lance does, it’s no different than what Arnold chooses to do. You vote and hope they count all the votes.
And if Record10 want some news that matters -
Republicans decide not to fund the military for a while, because heck, protecting the gun industry from liability is more important. http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/07/26/defense.bill.ap/
Well the Republicans won’t let him in because he doesn’t believe in Jeebus.
I’d say the head of the Republican party, a Jewish man, would disagree.
Jews believe in Jesus, they just don’t think he’s their savior. But you do pose an interesting conundrum, could a Jewish candidate beat an Agnostic for Republican nominee for Governor of Texas? Hmmmmmm.
My cash would still be on the born again Southern Baptist dude with the monobrow, criminal record and prostitution habit. As recent political campaigns have shown the conservative christian movement will forgive a lot of things; drug habits, draft dodging, shady business deals, nepotism, so long as you’ve had that chat with Jesus and you’re saved.
(any resemblance to any politician either living or deceased is purely coincidental)
Jews believe in Jesus, they just don’t think he’s their savior.
wrong. what do you mean “believe in” anyway. whats left to believe in after hes not the “savior”?
anyway, Lance is a self-proclaimed moderate it would be interesting to see what he does. However, his GF is obviously pretty left-wing…which makes it even more interesting.
I’m not an expert but I’ve always thought Jews believe Jesus to be a prophet, a man who delivered the word of God rather than actually being God incarnate as us Christians believe.
