actually the rumor is correct, Lance has been seen the past week or so out riding in the area. He has bought or is about to buy property just outside of CDA. George Clooney already has a place here as well. Lance was going out of town tomorrow (Saturday) for a fund raiser ride in Canada and is supposedly going to back on Sunday to watch the race.
I doubt that he’ll make it for the race. There are rides on Saturday and Sunday in Calgary. (http://www.tourofcourage.ca) I don’t think that Lance is riding Sunday but he is there to “launch” the ride along with Eddie Merckx. It’s an 8h drive from Calgary to CdA.
I doubt very much that Lance would be driving (or driven) for that kind of distance. That’s what they make Lear Jets for.
I think he is gonna give it a shot and based on this secret video from his last event he’s got it made… Lance’s run technique will put him over the top.

I realized that after I posted. Yeah, he’s probably not going to drive. It’s entirely possible that he’s going to CdA tomorrow. It would, however, make for a pretty tight day and he would be hard pressed to make it from Calgary to CdA in time to see the winner finish.
Small problem, he would have to land his G5 in Spokane and drive the 45 minutes to CDA. Given the traffic it would take him at least 90 minutes to get there. If he was there, and I will surpress my doubts that he was, its unlikely he’s coming back.
A G5 can land at COE, not a problem. It’s what, maybe 10 minutes from town, if that? Still, I agree, it’s unlikely that he would make an appearance in town on that day with those crowds without some sort of incentive.

It’s true. I saw him last night (Sunday) in the Beacon bar on the corner of Sherman and 4th for an hour or two. He sat in the corner with a group of folks. The bar had a couple of bouncer guys standing near to keep the locals away. My wife and son shook his hand as he was leaving at about 11:30. He seemed nice enough. His group stopped on Sherman and cheered on a couple of late finishers and he signed a couple of autographs for some kids before they walked off to what I assume was a boat to take them back across the lake to Gozzer Ranch (which is a new development for the super rich) http://www.candelariadesign.com/gozzer_ranch.html
On a side note it was a good race to watch this year. Not too hot for once. Much easier to watch the bike leg. I worked one of the bike aid stations all afternoon and had a great time handing out banana’s until we ran out of them.

A G5 flew over while I was on the bike course low enough to be identified… thus low enough to be landing.
However, he was near the finish line around the 14 hour mark… seen with my own eyes. Of course I also saw a life sized elmo on the course a number of times (bike and run).
So now the real question is for everyone who was there, did you see him signing up the next day???
