Lance is back, is Michael Schumacher next?

Lance is definitely back. It now looks that perhaps another champion will make a return to racing. 7 time F1 champion Michael Schumacher might fill the vacant seat of injured Ferrrari driver Felipe Massa. Lance did a great job at the Tour. Would Schumi do as well as Lance? Michael had been out of racing for 3 years though he’s without a doubt the greatest driver in the history of Motor Racing. Will it actually happen? I hope so.

Ahh but then who’s going to be the Stig?!?

I think he’ll do great…if he’s racing under Ross Brawn. It’s hard to deny Brawn’s contribution when Schumi refused to move from Benetton to Ferrari w/o taking Brawn along with him. Then Ross Brawn takes over Honda, has one year, then takes the team to the front of the grid (although I think losing a large portion of his staff with the buyout is starting to show the impacts). The reality is that Ross Brawn turns each team he touches into gold. Benetton, Ferrari, RBR (Honda). What can you really say?

What’s the take-away lesson? Armstrong is to Bruyneel as Schumi is to Brawn. The two are only effective together. (7 major championships each, too, correct? I could be wrong here for Schumi/Brawn)

Ahh but then who’s going to be the Stig?!?

I love that show!

Now that is cool!

Schumacher could teach a lot of triathletes a few things about cornering fast.

On courses with lots of tight turns I see lots of time just disappearing…forever

Sweet Georgia Brown!!! The Resurrection of The Reds…

I feel sorry for Massa, Getting hit the head with what amounts to a two pound weight, while going about 130-140 mph is just plain terrible luck…almost freakin killed him,

Ahh but then who’s going to be the Stig?!?
Holy crap that was quick!

Some say that the outline of his left nipple is exactly the same shape as the Nürburgring. And if you give him a really important job, he’ll skive off and play croquet. All we know is…he’s called the Stig

The Stig? Don’t you mean Cuddles?

It would be great to see how Lance would do driving the “reasonably priced car.”

Better yet, Lance vs Contador.

I had the same thought once I heard Massa was out for season; Schumey would be able to step right in and it would be sweet but apparently both sides have played down the possibility.

you sure he’s the Stig tho?

I was wondering if they’d get an F1 racer on this season every few shows and say “juuust kidding, THIS was the Stig!”
Telling us… just… takes the fun out of it!

How 'bout that…

I stand corrected from my previous post, it looks like it’s offical: http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news/detail/090729190859.shtml.

yeah, it’s on! cannot wait to see what happens next, especially with Ferrari finally getting some speed back and the “traditional” order being restored.

Can’t wait to see the Radio Shack livery on Schumi’s Ferrari.

I’m a die hard Ferrari fan (and F1 fan as well), have been since the late 80’s and am glad to see Schumi back in the seat!

What is going to suck though is that his talents are going to be marginalized by the lackluster car they have this year. Even with his testing and incredible ability to get the car right, they are going to be hard pressed to catch Red Bull and Brawn. The good thing is, they should at least be able to hold 3rd in the Constructor’s Championship now.

Oh, and I’d love to be a fly on the wall in team meetings with Raikonnen and Schumi as drivers. Too bad Kimi is on his way out of F1 as he seems to just be done with it and wants to go do rallies and such.

Speedy recovery to Massa. We miss you already!

while on Ferrari’s talk, here the new F458.

“he’s without a doubt the greatest driver in the history of Motor Racing.”

Highly debateable. He may have won the most races but he drove at a time in the modern F1 era when the car is far more important than the driver. Any old time fan could argue that Fangio, Moss, Clark, Stewart to be more exciting drivers. In those days the driver actually mattered.
