Not to mention that SPOILER only works if the rest of the title is fairly ambiguous.

FAIL x3.

Collar bones heal in 4 to 6 weeks. Question will be how much fitness can he maintain during that time. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him skip the Giro now but he could still make the starting line at the Tour. Could be the straw that breaks the camels back as far as deciding who is going to be racing for who.

yeah, but mine’s on top.

spoiler. ie… if you don’t want to know the results from today’s race.

I thought that was rather polite of me to put that in.

he’s been on a steep curve getting his fitness back in time for the TdF, it’s not like he was on great form to begin with. This could derail any hopes of doing well.

I agree that it makes Contador the team leader for the rest of the year.

That can easily be changed. ;-)

that’s true.

:stuck_out_tongue:

If they pin it he can be back and close to full speed pretty quick. ~2 weeks.

Even without that, he can be on a trainer inside a week. Not a lot of fitness loss there, although
also not “racing into shape”.

what is to stop you from being on a trainer the next day?

HTFU! medical knowledge be damned! (joking, mostly)

Clearly crashed deliberately as he knew he doesn’t have it anymore.

Know a cyclist that got back on the bike 3 days later and was doing push ups (no pain) in two weeks.

Not sure what the big worry is. You really think a collarbone will stop this guy??

testicular, lung and brain cancer didnt stop him…

Your story is not plausible.

A cyclist doing pushups?

If Tyler can do it…

Seriously, we need more information. How bad is the fracture? Are there any other legiments/tendens involved?

The Giro is probably out, maybe he will ride the tour de suisse like in 2001?

Broken collar bone means he has to rebuild the season somewhat, even if he heals fast. No matter how hard you ride on your trainer, it is not equal to racing at race pace. He can maintain fitness, but its rather hard to get in serious race-quality efforts riding a trainer one-handed. Especially for lance, who does his best climbing out of the saddle. If he did indeed break it, I would speculate that he will scrap the Giro & race the Dauphine Libere to fine tune his form for the TdF.

Also wondering how bad the fracture is, could be a longer recover if it is displaced.
