Saw a lot of the documentary on the OLN channel last night. What an awesome athlete!! Just his training regimen is incredible.
And Wow, is that guy rich or what? He’s got an awesome house in Spain, flies around in a semi-private jet with Sherryl Crow, and gets to cycle the most beautiful roads in the world on the most awesome bikes. He’d better win the TdF this year or he’ll have to start flying first class on commercial airlines like the rest of the riff raff.
Why didn’t I listen to my mother and pursue professional bike racing instead of going to college. I’ve never wished I was any professional athlete, until now.
I don’t know anything about his wife. She may be good looking but obviously their marriage sucked. Maybe he’s better off without her. I don’t hold a divorce against him at all.
I agree about being away from the kids. Hopefully he got a good custody agreement.
Who on the Tdf didn’t take something at one time or another?
I wasn’t even thinking about the money. I was mostly thinking about being able to cycle in the French and Spanish mountains every day.
I am impressed with his money. Not just a little but a lot. Who would have ever thought that a bike rider could be making so much money? Would have Eddy, Indurain etal ever dreamed of such a thing? Those guys barely scratched out a living.
What I can’t do is reach that far to say that he’s not happy. I’m more optimistic and I think that he is happy and he has moved away from his divorce and gotten a life back. Maybe he would like to have a solid family with his kids again but I bet he would not like to have the life that he had with his ex-wife.
Agree. He’s stretched to the max and many of the other top competitors have less distractions, more motivation and maybe even less abuse on their body. I hope he does it this year but if not then it’s understandable - it’s not like he changes his clothes in a phone booth or his undershirt has an “S” on it.
I believe that he’s already indicated that he’ll be riding next year. I would guess that there was at least a little pressure by Discovery Channel to get at least one year of Lance in with the new team.
One thing Mr. Armstrong doesn’t do is say things he doesn’t want to say. He’s very complementary of Kik, and in his latest book, even relays a dream she had that helped him perform better in last year’s tour. They might not match up for a storybook forever and ever marriage. But, he respects her, and loves her for the life they had together, and the lives they’ve created together. I bet he’d sooner punch someone in the face for belittling Kik than for accusing him of doping. They have always had a real chasm of belief systems…I commented years ago that I was afraid this difference would be enough to cause them not to make it as a couple forever. I don’t think that you can knowingly say that Lance wouldn’t want his “old” life with Kik more than he wants his life in it’s present state. We don’t know. Maybe it was Kik that had enough, not Lance…doesn’t really matter, they are still friends, and have three children to raise. And I’ll bet Lance won’t stand for anyone or anything bad-mouthing the relationship he and Kik had, and now, have.
