Lance Armstrong - Stop at nothing documentary

Has anyone seen this? Apparently it’s on Showtime. Is it worth subscribing so I can see it?

If you have VPN to get a UK IP, I think you can watch it on the BBC for free. If that doesn’t work, I probably wouldn’t pay to watch a bunch of adults blame someone else for their poor decisions. I get paid to listen to that crap every day… it gets old.

I watched this. The story is mostly the same old crap about sociopath Lance. Still worth a watch though, there is a lot of cool vintage footage that I had never seen before and a solid interview with an on point Betsy Andreu that kind of lights the whole thing up a bit.

Great post. You’re right, it gets old… fast

Just watched it. It was excellent. I’m very well versed on the entire timeline and all the incidents along the way, but it’s one thing to read about it and something else to see old footage, old press conferences, depositions, newscasts, etc… There’s very little “story”, it’s really just the Lance Armstrong story from youth to downfall told through video clips, interviews, press conferences, etc…

Really quite excellent. I’m looking forward to the DOJ case wrapping up so that Landis can speak out. I also wonder if the world will ever learn the backstory behind why the federal case got dropped.

Definitely worth paying for if you need to.

How does this compare to “Lie” on Netflix (Ca)?

You’re getting more vintage footage and, likely, nuggets of information that you did not previously know from “Stop at Nothing”. For instance, footage from the domestic Triple Crown series where the deal was set to let LA win all 3 and take the $1m including an interview with an Italian rider in the break with Lance who sat up and let him win. And, lots of recorded phone calls that surely make Stephanie McIlvaine regret perjuring herself.

It was dropped because after losing against Bonds and Clemens, with pretty much airtight cases I might add, the feds decided it is damned tough to convince jurors to convict a popular athlete on a Mickey Mouse charge of taking drugs to play professional sports. Also, unlike USADA which ignores the rules when it is convenient, the federales have to abide by things like the statute of limitations. Of course if you ask Betsy Andreu and her circle of nutters of at Cycling News’ forum, they will blame everything on a vast conspiracy that involves Bill Clinton–seriously, no joke. They might have managed to work the Queen of England and Da Joos in there as well.

uh-huh
.

It is the same as any other that has been made. Everyone else being interviewed about how they did drugs but Lance was so much worse than them and he bullied them into doing it. And way too much screen time for whiny Betsy Andreu who is actually worse than Lance. its a good watch though.

Funny how the riders trying to blame their own decisions and the rampant doping of the whole sport on a few scapegoats all left Postal to go to teams where they could make big money doping. Zabriskie was getting paid $15K a year at Postal. He went to CSC and was one of the best time trialists in the sport. Gee, I wonder how he accomplished that. Vandevelde went to Liberty Seguros, probably the dirtiest team in the entire sport. After that he went to–wait for it–CSC. Leipheimer went to Rabobank then to Gerolsteiner. When he got back together with Bruyneel, he (along with Tom Danielson) was the one pressuring Bruyneel to help him blood dope.

I wouldn’t subscribe to showtime for one show. It was interesting though. Get someone to record it for you and bring them a 6-pack.

I believe you can rent it on youtube

Easy. It’s already full on youtube, recorded from BBC.

I watched it last night. It’s about as black and white as it gets, from a storyteller’s perspective, which they all are.

Well done production. We’ll find out, over time, whether it’s an accurate portrayal.

I have seen most of the new Lance’s documentary crap but then is it actually true now? Or is it more lies that sound cool propaganda to make more money?

Maybe since it had been a while since I had seen these people but I was struck by the huge amalgamation of douchebags involved in this fraud. I mean, besides Lance Armstrong himself, you have Carmichael, Stapleton, Bruyneel (funny to see him back when he was skinny), Weisel, Gorski, Ochowicz, Kristin Richard-Armstrong-Richard, his mother (who has three or four divorces to her name), Kevin Livingston, etc. I mean it was a Murderer’s Row of ethically bankrupt lowlifes working together for a common goal.Tyler Hamilton made an interesting point when he talks about how at CSC you were expected to dope but also expected to handle the logistics yourself whereas at USPS they did it all for you. As a side note, Betsy Andreu should demand a refund from the doctor who performed her facelift, it is awful.

Right. How many riders got caught after leaving USPS? Landis, Hamilton, Heras and others. Lance was certainly no saint, but these professional riders are adults and should take a little more responsibility for their decisions.

As a side note, Betsy Andreu should demand a refund from the doctor who performed her facelift, it is awful.

She probably blames that on Armstrong as well.
