i heard phil say yesterday on oln’s coverage that “there is no love lost between lance armstrong and robbie mcewen”.
does anyone have any insight into the comment? ie. what happened to cause this roe?

dunno, but I’m guessing it’s b/c McEwen is a d!ck. (Flame away!)
Hmmm…Aussies are very good fellows…so it must be Lance
.
He’s the exception to the rule. Apologies to all fine Aussies who may be offended. I cringe every time he wins a sprint. I cringe a lot!
What… Lance in an argument with somebody? That never happened! Ya think they’re more like each other than they care to admit?

AAhhh yes the opinionated person who some how knows Robbie with out even meeting him. We need more blokes like Robbie to make things a little more interesting. Love ya Robbie!!
The time when LA and Robbie had a lovers tiff was a long time ago I think they are over it!
Yeah…and Lance isn’t.
Sorry, Lance is a great athlete but one of the biggest jerks in sports today.
well, you know I’m opinionated without ever having met me me!
dude, read the whole thread, and take note of the irony… what happened at last year’s tour with him chasing down a guy he has a beef with was a disgrace to the sport of cycling. No argument from me there.
Not even close to being one of the biggest jerks, he wouldn’t even be on the radar for an NBA player. When he gets arrested for drunk driving, beating his wife or taking guns through the airport then you might have an argument. Or if he crushes a bike with a 2x4 or drives one of his competitors into the barriers, then you can say he’s one of the biggest jerks.

That’s a fact! He’s not even close. He’s a winner so everyone says he’s arrogant. He’s not the best person in the world, he’s merely mortal. But…he is a world class cyclist and it takes a level of self confidence most of us only dream of. To those who are already predisposed to dismiss the leaders and support the underdog, it is usually called arrogance when they spit about it.
He is an athlete who gives back to his community and spends a lot of his time outside of his training on charitable causes. Then again, there are those that say he has his foundation merely as a mechanism to draw more attention to himself. What do I say to them? Nothing, because they have already condemned themselves more than I ever could.
And as for one our perennial sufferers of Lance envy (JoB), I’m assuming you are talking about him riding down Simeoni? Too bad you didn’t mention many in the Peloton congratulated Armstrong for “disciplining” him. Don’t cherry pick and remove what supports your argument from the context of the event.
Bravo Roadfused Bravo!!!
thanks for the thread hijack!
we have lots of lance god/ass discussions on here. i wasn’t meaning to open up another.
just curious to find out why phil thinks there is bad blood. i don’t think robbie or lance being a dink is reason enough (whether it be true or not).

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…you are thanking me. NICE, really nice. Well you opened the can, SURPRISE!!! There really are worms in there. Give me a break…I don’t think Lance is a god and I don’t think he is an ass. He’s a very good cyclist and sometimes philanthropist, he didn’t deserve the denigration, that’s all. He definitely didn’t deserve to be classified with the real jerks of the sports world.
Ya they’re both WINNERS!
Dude that was some BS I could never come to terms with. What was that ‘lesser’ Phillipo Simoni (not the SAECO rider multi Giro winner Gilberto) crying about anyway??? In a race anyone can close the gap for whatever reason they want and talk whatever shit they want to each other, it’s called bicycle racing!!! I mean what did Lance say? Hey dickhead your life’s over, I got a contract out on you ? No that never happened. I believe the complaint was that Lance bridged the gap and gave him a dirty look as he went by. Boo-hoo! And then the freakin Italian authorities and courts had to get into it like Lance was some kinda Mafiaso who had threatened to cut off the guys little pecker or sumpthin if he testified against Dr Ferrari. Again never happened.
If you can’t keep your breakaway you don’t deserve it. That’s racing, no use crying to Mommy. If Lance had tried to run him off the road or knock him down in the race, well that’s another totally different thing which which could even lead to disqualification …of course it never happened.
If there’s Lance bashing at least try not to grasp for straws just to at substantiate in the absence of real substance.
“what happened at last year’s tour with him chasing down a guy he has a beef with was a disgrace to the sport of cycling. No argument from me there.”
Please, please, please explain to me how Lance bridging that gap is anything other than bike racing???
I agree did you see how he acted on his first stage win last week. Acted like a completly spoiled macho mate from down under.
On the face of it - without having met him in person - Robbbie McKewen is a total dick. The way he conducts himself is typical Aussie win-at-all-cost aggro-competitiveness. This is usually accompanied by poor sportsmanship and a total vaccuum where a personality should be. Case in point Leyton Hewitt; contrast him with the enormously funnny, self-deprecating Andy Roddick.
That said, the other Aussies in the peloton, namely Cadel Evans, Stu O’Grady, and Michael Rodgers are the kind of sportsmen I like to see.
And yesterday, and when I was a junior racing against him…I still stand by…thats why he is divorced. He changed ALLOT after cancer…then changed back to what he was, only worse as now he beat everyone…AND cancer.

Call me slow, but I’m having a hard time following your post. Please indulge me and tell us again, but don’t be cryptic or assume we know what you are talking about.
Read it carefully and you will see why I am having the problem.
You’ve gone a little crazy with the ellipses lately. Stream-of-consciousness posting?
