Lance and Karnazes(spelling?) at NYC marathon

I just read an article off of mensracing.com that said Karnazes (spelling?) ran 3:00:30 at NYC. Now, if I remember correctly, Lance ran 2:59:36 or something. Wouldn’t that have been awesome to have Lance Vs. Dean Karnakazes(spelling?) battle it out in the last quarter mile? I don’t even know, maybe they did, since they were less than a minute separated at the finish.

Dean was finishing his 50th of 50…Lance his 1st of 1. I think if Dean wanted to take him he could have, haha.

Now, if Lance rode like 150 miles everyday for 50 straight days and Dean just did one 150 mile day the day Lance was doing his last, I would bet on Lance to take the finish line sprint.

You have to remember that Dean had his own entourage running with him and probably did not see any benefit in busting LA’s groove.
Dean ran through here and was nothing but gracious to everyone that ran with him. Could he have passed LA? Sure, but to what benefit?

It says on Dean’s website (or active.com) that he didn’t know that Lance was so close and that if he had he would have picked it up as he was just bimbling along.

Even though they may have had similar chip times, they could be a mile apart or more on the course depending on when they hit the starting line.

Which could be another reason that he couldn’t see Lance.

Would have loved to catch a glimpse of him! Might have to pick up my pace though

Nice post dude. Perhaps you missed the other 30 threads and hundreds of posts on the NYC marathon, Dean and Lance. Way to come late to the party! 8-P

what race are you referring to? deano had zero people running with him and got zero coverage. it actually was quite funny because he is such a disgusting self-promoter and the nyrrc basically told him to take a hike. deano never saw lance because he started off slowly and ran out of real estate. if the race had been another mile, he would have passed la.

You forget that Dean had just ran 49 other marathons also.
