Lake Tri Shoe Comments

Hey guys,

The Lake Tri shoe is on sale at Nashbar:

I have relatively flat feet and most cycling shoes have way too built up arches in them. My feet feel happier in lower end shoes with a minimalist arch. Right now I am in the Pearl Izumi Vagabond, but this shoe has quite a thick sole, so I am effectively reducing my femur to tibia ratio.

A few questions:
What is the last like on this Lake Tri Shoe (flat, built up arch etc etc…looks reasonalby flat from the pics) ? How thick is the sole (does not look insanely thick)?

Any recommendations would be appreciated. I don’t really care for carbon soles. Most of them hurt my feet. I’d rather go less stiff and have no foot pain.

the sole is thin and flat but ok stiff not like carbon.
the insole is thin and not much arch and removable
I had a pair
my feet are a bit wider then the shoes

$59.99, reasonably thin sole, minimalist arch, no cost shipping till Friday? Are we talking about a really narrow fit or are your feet super wide? Are these shoes heavy boat anchors or middle of the road weight?

Dev,

I have these shoes. I think they are good quality and a steal for the price. The arch is not as large as the cycling shoes you speak of. And the sole is about as thick as it looks. Not thin like light carbon soles, but not thick either.

These shoes took me about 250+ miles to break in. My feet fell asleep the first few times wearing them.

ps santa is shiping new skate ski stuff to me this week.

I have an older model of this shoe. I’ve been relatively happy with it considering the price. I also have flat feet and the last/arch is comfortable - although not as comfortable as my Sidi Geniuses.

My feet are pretty narrow, and these shoes fit them well in this regard. I never gave a moments thought about the sole being too thick.

I only use them to race in, so I don’t have a super amount of miles in them. One annoying thing was that I had to trim down the strap a bit - they close towards the inside and the strap would rub against the crank arm.

I used them for a while. Great shoe considering the price and price competition out there or tri shoes.
But, I felt the strap wasn’t wide enough to make the shoe feel like it was consistantly tight along the length of the foot.

Free Shipping only applies for US shipping…Will not work for Canada I don’t htink…Although they do look well priced, so if you do decide to go with them let me know and I may want to combine shipping…

Dev,

Have them, love them… Not the easiest to get in if you place them on the pedals at T1 but after some practice for me it became easy… Very comfortable interior, I wear them without socks all the time for short and long rides. I like them better than my regular road cycling shoes. FWIW I have wide feet with a standar arch.

Peace
