Uh, have you IM LP folks packed your parkas and seal meat? ![]()
What are you planning on wearing on the bike, now that it’s going to be, say 52-55 degrees at the start of the bike?

You will be please to know that the weather forecast has changed from 60% chance of rain and the wind out of the west (a killer riding back into town) to 0% chance of rain and wind out of the northeast (a perfect tailwind back into town).
I love these extended forecasts.
I’m not doing the race, but my training buddy, Dominic Castellano is. He’s a hot weather guy. (Sicilian) He’s a bit worried that it’s going to be cold, rainy and windy.
I’ll tell him you said not to worry, AJ.
(He’s the former world power lifting champion, so if it’s cold, rainy, and windy…
)

I like it how weather.com has it at 0% rain for Sunday, but 30% and 50% for the day before and the day after. It’s good to know that there is zero chance of rain from when I wake up in the morning until the time I cross the finish line, which will be before midnight.
I’m glad someone posted about the weather. I’ll have some arm warmers and hope that is enough. Coming from North Carolina, most of my training rides have been in the mid-80s to lower-90s, so the cool air should feel good. I just hope I don’t get tricked into thinking that I’m back in my early season base building period when it was okay to ride 13 mph!

Wouldn’t it be nice if we really did get a high of 69, partly cloudy and light winds from the NE? You just couldn’t dial up better conditions than that.
Alas, this is the North Country. Life is just not that easy.
I love watching these extended forecasts. I think they get them off the dart board.
Come now Art…if wishes were trees the forest would be barron. 69? I am betting 89…once the rain stops.
Almost anything will be better than last year! The rain and wind coming back into town was a killer. Just talked to JD Standish, who is the supply depot director in LP. He said this morning was sunny at noon it was raining and by 3:00 PM the sun was out again. Typical LP weather. I’ll lay down even money that it will rain SOMETIME/SOMEWHERE on race day. Just hope it comes and goes and does not soak us like last year. Z
I’ll throw the arm warmers and a discardable l/s shirt in the bag and make the call in transition. More than likely I’ll tough it out, though. Of course I’m from Cleveland, where the last of the snow melted about three days ago. And we’re used to disappointment anyway.
And remember:
If you go to the pre-race pasta dinner, then there is no need to eat during the race; save weight by leaving the food at home.
A good way to go faster on the bike is to get up really close to the back wheel of another rider.
Oh the long uphills, shift to the big chain ring and smallest cog and pedal as hard as you can. This will make you go faster, get the hills over with sooner and get on to that run with fresher legs.
Race morning is a great time to try something new for breakfast. Your body will respond well to eating something you’re not used to. For instance, if you’re a vegetarian, eat a double cheeseburger.
To relax your muscles in transition or after the race, smoke a couple of cigarettes.
I’ll just wear the usual: Sleeveless jersey and DSS Power tri shorts. It’ll suck for a few miles, but once I get warmed up, I’ll be fine if I don’t stop. I do better when it’s cooler(and rainy!) so I am just hoping it doesn’t get up to 90.
For reference, I did Tupper Lake last year, and the forecast was the same(low 70’s). It was a little cool starting the bike, but by the end of the bike, it was around 85 degrees.
I can relate. I’d rather bike in 40 degree weather than 90 degree weather. I can always suck on my fingers and toes. ![]()
But, this raises an interesting question. I guess toe warmers would be legal as long as they are not for aero purposes? Anyone know?
