Lake Placid Lodging (3)

Anyone have a tip on what would possibly be available in Lake Placid for lodging IM weekend. July 24-27th…Every place I found on line is booked

Thanks for the help

Try Swiss Valley Lodge.

Art Devlin’s Lodge just emailed me today about 2 rooms that have opened up - I didn’t take the rooms. email is:

I did it in 05 and stayed at the Mt. Van Hoevenberg B&B cabins. I had no trouble getting one about 5 months before. It seems people don’t or at least didn’t know about them. They are actually on the bike course at about mile 7 or 8…so a little bit out of town but not bad. They were reasonably priced and very quiet and peaceful, plus they have a little kitchen. No TV though but that is a plus in my book.

I would never stay at Devlins again. Service sucks, Art is an asshole jerk.

I say this due to the fact that they “claim” dogs are welcome. Estee was going PEE in the grass and I was yelled at by Art that “your dog just killed my grass”. They then complained that my dog was barking (and she wasnt, as she doesnt).

The room was “upgraded” LCD TV, but there was hair all over the bathroom and the bed. Beer bottles were under the mattress (between the mattress and box).

More over…I could not get over getting reprimanded for Estee going pee. Big potty, sure. Clean it up - but pee?

Call or email the Lake Placid visitor’s bureau. They usually maintain a list of vacancies for local hotels for IM week and they’ve been very helpful in the past.

Stayed there 2 years ago, thought it was fine and the location is ideal.

I never stayed there. Don’t know Art, Hell I’ve never been to Lake Placid. However, I was curious and their website clearly says they have a dog “duty” area which it sounds like you were not using.

Dog “duty” area is in the far back corner of property. (To the right of parking area) Be especially careful of urine. In summer it kills the grass and in winter it encourages other dogs to “mark the spot” creating unsightly yellow spots.

Yeah - behind a dumpster in the back, it is about 6x6. EVERYONE knows that Pee is not “duty”.

Once wonders who it was that was yelling at Chip then. Some cook off the street?
