Looks like Tier 4 spots are the only ones left. Anyone know how fast this race will sell out?

In years past it would sell out within an hour of opening. Last year it didn’t sell out until something like December. 2018 will be the 20th anniversairy though. So who knows.
For all we know there were only 50 slots in Tier 1, 100 in Tier 2 and 200 in Tier 3… leaving 2000 for Tier 4. This new marketing strategy might be paying off by creating artificial hype about being close to sell out when that isn’t the case.
It’s impossible to know.

^This! I registered for IM70.3 Florida several days before it opened up for general registration (under TriClub program) and was still only Tier 2. I was wondering if there were only 10 slots at the Tier 1 price.
Completely agree. I think this tier thing is a crock. I registered for IMLP 2 years ago on the first day and the price was $740. They have the first tier at $650? No way. I wouldn’t be surprised if tier 1 was single digits.

$9
Is it even possible to register the day before the ironman for next year’s event? Do volunteers still get priority the day after the ironman to register for next year’s event?

Yes and Yes.
Current year athletes can still sign up for next years race on Saturday. Volunteers and anyone else at the venue can sign up on Monday morning before registration opens online at Noon.
The new tiered pricing might also help recruit volunteers. If the tier 1 and 2 pricing sells out on site before it it opens online its a $100 incentive to show up and volunteer.
