Lake Geneva Half Ironman

I’m wondering if anyone has a review of the Lake Geneva, Wisconsin Half Ironman course. The event is advertised as an “extreme” event but I haven’t found any solid evidence that the race is going to be tough.

Oh boy…

It’s extreme and it can be tough. But you should pass. Try the search function for the term “Lake Geneva”. Plenty out there.

Cool thanks!

Where is that can opener ?
Oh, yes there it is. (Popping open can of worms ):
They lost the USAT sanctioning and insurance due to a few problems in the past.

There should be plenty on this forum if you do a search.

First of all, whether or not it will happen is debatable. So if you are thinking about it wait until the last possible minute to register. They have lost their USAT license, which comes as no surprise to most of us, but be prepared for a mini-disaster. In the past, it has been very very poorly run, no SAG, no security, poorly marked course etc. I and some of my training partners are doing it, because it is convenient. I expect it to be chaos however.

As for the course, the swim is the swim…although it might be a little short or long. The bike isn’t overly difficult, a couple hills, nothing too outrageuos, one little ball punch of a hill early in the ride. The run is a bitch. There are 2 hills on the run course that I have yet to be able to run up entirely and have determined it may just be faster to walk up them. I am not sure, but I think it is a 2-loop run course so you have to do each hill twice. It’s not the fastest course, but its not a complete ball buster either.

Cool thanks Saltman that’s exactly what I wanted to know!
