Lafayette,LA pool?

Helping my boyfriend find a pool to swim there today, he has a long layover there… any tips?

My home town.

Red Lerille’s Health and Racquet Club allows folks traveling form out of town to use the club for a reasonable fee, maybe $10. It’s where I swim when I go home. Nice 25 meter heated outdoor pool usually with no one in it. Definitely be able to get some laps in. There are public pools but the lap times are very limited.

Can eat at Don’s or La Fonda on Johnston street on his way back to the airport.

oh thanks! that’s the same pool the hotel told me to go too!

Second Red Lerille’s. I live in Lafayette and the club is home to most of the local triathletes. Heated, outdoor, 25 m pool, and new, indoor, 25 yard pool. You can swim laps anytime between 4 a.m. and 10 p.m. Probably about $10 for a guest.

Red’s is about 10 min. from the airport. Also stop by Precision Bikes, just up the street from Red’s on the corner of Johnston and Doucet (triathlon oriented bike shop owned by Mark Miller).

Awful hard to pass Prejeans and Crawfish enchiladas.

Agree with Red’s. Pretty nice club. I’ve visited there a couple of times. And like the other posted. Definitely do Prejeans (sp).

hey dave (jetlink) says thank you so much. he is in houston right now and the airport computers won’t let him post on ST. Shame on them!!! He appreciates this and will go check out the pool this afternoon:-)

Glad to help. Red’s is a great place to work out and hang out. If one is inclined to relax a bit after a workout there’s a nice little bar upstairs that looks out over the tennis courts.

I thought prejean’s was on I-49 heading out toward Opelousas?

Correct 2-3 miles North of I 10 exit 103B. About 15 minutes North of the Airport.

I think you’re correct (without looking at a map). But it’s just a short drive and well worth it.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the information on Red’s - extremely nice facility and I really enjoyed it. I really could see how this place is a favorite of triathlete’s…even saw a few people w/numbered swim caps in the water…anyhow, thanks again for the information - definately a place I’ll return to on future visits!!
