Kysrium ssc sl's

I have been training on my Richey Wheels that came on my P2K, and have a set of race wheels Zipp 404’s. My question is I am looking at buying the Kysrium ssc sl’s to train on, and when I use my trainer which is usually tough on my tire, I will just put on a different back wheel. So I will train outdoors on the Kysrium’s and on the trainer switch my back wheel with the Richey. Will this mess up the wear on my different casset’s and my chain? Thanks…

That would be an ideal setup, saving on tire wear and skewer damage on your ‘trainer’ wheel. If you don’t like switching cassettes between all 3 wheels, it’s not that hard, but you’d lose the convenience of just switching wheels, just make sure you start out with a new chain and 2 or 3 new or like new cassettes. Keep the chain maintained (clean and lubed) religiously, check it for ‘stretch’ often and replace early and you should be able to avoid uneven wear on your cassettes.

I would have a different cassette on all three set of wheel’s. A 11-23 on the Zipp’s, a 12-25 on the ksyrium’s, and a 12-27 on the Richey’s.

Thanks…

SSL SL’s for training? Wow. That’s big. These are seriously great wheels, tough as hell spokes that I defy anyone to break on a climb or in a crit. Hubs are fantastic, as they should be.

But these wheels are expensive and are really race wheels, not trainers. They can take the abuse, but so can pretty much any others out there. If you don’t mind the extra weight, you can get some of the ksyrium elites and get just as durable a wheel with excellent hubs for a few hundred $$ less. Heck trainers are supposed to be heavier, right?
