Kristin Armstrong (LA's ex) and Landis cooperating!?!

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/...g/article7133884.ece

David Walsh article: a very thorough article that goes through many of LA’s employees that have testified or stated on the record of LA’s doping- and ends with the following bombshell.

Long ago, cycling’s authorities decided it would not wash in public any linen belonging to Armstrong. The United States Anti-Doping Authority has taken a different line and appointed the federal investigator Jeff Novitzky to the case. **Landis and Armstrong’s former wife are understood to be co-operating. ** The choice of Novitzky is significant because if his work in the infamous Balco case proved anything, it was that lying to federal investigators is not a good idea.

If Novitzky concludes that US Postal did run a doping programme, Armstrong and others could face charges. Through Tailwind Sports, the US Postal team was funded by taxpayers’ money. The penalties for misusing such funds are draconian.
The Landis emails may have been but the first chapter in a story destined to become far more interesting.

Yes! Justice will be served!

You can question Landis’s motivation for these allegations, his credibility, his mental state, his timing, all of that. But at the end of the day, I guarantee that the overwhelming majority of what he alleges will be found accurate.

You do realize this means they are co-operating with the US doping officials…not with each other right? So it’s not as if Landis and Kristen are working together to “get” Lance.

I really don’t think this changes anything. Until there is actual proof let’s try to keep the accusations to those scumbag cheats like Landis.

I do think that a lot of what Landis said was true and I think that Lance’s actions recently have been rather suspicious, especially after watching the Bicycling.com video that was taken down. I have always thought that Lance (and about 99% of the peloton) takes PED’s, and still do.

However, I do not exactly want Lance to get caught (although I think it would be hard to prove). Just think about what that would do to his foundation (which has benefited millions of people) and to cycling in America. It would be devastating.

goodbye Lance. Enjoy these final days you and your legacy have together.

But the current system is unsustainable. Either it gets torn down and rebuilt now, or it gets torn down and rebuilt later. I say start the teardown now so we can start the rebuilding process sooner, because going on like this indefinitely is impossible.

It’s unfortunate that an Armstrong fall from grace might have some fallout on cancer research, but let’s be realistic. Worldwide cancer research does not depend on Livestrong Inc. it will continue without Lance.

You need to prepare yourself. Everyone involved with these organizations, everyone who has an emotional, physical, spiritual, WHATEVER connection…

…needs to start preparing themselves for the very WORST.

Because people are going to tell the truth to federal investigators. And when one person tells the truth, they open up several new doors. When these doors are opened, things get uglier, and uglier, and uglier.

I’m telling you, this is going to be MASSIVE.

As a federal investigator, this plays absolutely no role whatsoever in anything. It’s as insignificant as you can possibly get. Armstrong will face no charges regarding doping. For one, statute of limitations is 5 years. He would only face charges like the rest (re: Bonds or Marion Jones) - lying to a federal investigator or grand jury… perjury or false statement. Penalties will also be non-existent.

Didn’t Marion Jones go to jail?

This is the same logic that led the Catholic Church to cover up years of sexual abuse by its clergy.

Didn’t Marion Jones go to jail?

she lied to a grand jury.

Didn’t Marion Jones go to jail?

Yes. What part of my post didn’t make sense? The only charges he could potentially face would be for lying.

Didn’t Marion Jones go to jail?

she lied to a grand jury.

No. She lied to a federal agent (false statement). Bonds “allegedly” lied to a grand jury (perjury).

No. She lied to a federal agent (false statement).

damn Wikipedia…

In October 2007, Jones admitted taking steroids before the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics and acknowledged that she had, in fact, lied when she previously denied steroid use in statements to the press, to various sports agencies, and—most significantly—to two grand juries. One was impaneled to investigate the BALCO “designer steroid” ring, and the other was impaneled to investigate a check fraud ring involving many of the same parties from the BALCO case

I don’t think she ever testified before a GJ. Not 100% certain of that though The charges she was charged with and pled to were for false statement (18 USC 1001).

The question is: when? Now or in 20 years.

I´m not so sure about that. They will wiggle out.

Hmm…yes, like after Festina…le Tour du renouveau. What a success.

People lie to federal investigators all the time (or even Congressional hearings). It does open them up to charges, but it’s not commonly enforced. Usually it’s the indictable violation of last resort, like getting Capone for tax fraud.

If you read the emails, Floyd is clearly egging Lance to take him to court. He thinks that there are many, many people out there who know something bad about Lance, Bruyneel, the UCI, etc. He’s hoping that a few of them won’t lie if called to actually testify. During an investigation, many will choose not to cooperate, try to “nuance” the facts, omit material details, etc.

Not sure how it will all end up, but I’m rooting for truth and justice no matter what the facts are.
