That’s a solid overview number but can you conceptually analyze what 600 700 or 900 hours looks like. I can’t.
But I can see the difference hugely in what 10 13 and 15 hour weeks look like. But I also don’t worry about off season “low volume†numbers in the “average†if an athlete only wanted 6 vs 9 for 2-3 weeks I’m not going to bash him over the head because those 3 weeks are as much a mental refresh as it is a physical break.
I think you posted you basically have 3 main things based of hours which is what I basically have. Early season build. Race season numbers and then peak training weeks. As I’ve been. Saying I must suck as a coach cus i can’t for the life of me get my athletes who are chasing fop results close to “low†training hours and be successful. Like I said you do a weekly “long†ride and there is no way around not having a high volume weekly number. So I’m astonished at guys who say they can do it on 10 hours of training. Like your a freaking unicorn imo. And I generally train to a “lower†volume than high.
But more than anything my philosophy is train to the demands of your competition. So if you are looking to KQ, where you are will determine what you do. If your an D1 single sport athlete you are ahead of the “average†guy who just wants to go all in and see what happens imo. Just like the guy who trains at 14 hour a week and goes for KQ attempt # 5 in year 4 is going to be ahead of the 1st year “average†guy usually again unless your that unicorn.
