Kool stop

where would you buy kool stop on line?

I do believe Coloradocyclist.com has them.

I installed these pads or regular aluminumn wheels, replaced my Dura ace pads, they are very spongy and don’t grip at all, it’s like the wheels are wet, any suggestions.

I’m really puzzled by the comment that they feel spongy and don’t grip well. I’ve been using these for 20 years (under various names) and love them. In my experience they grip really well yet don’t abrade rims. They do wear somewhat more quickly than Shimano pads, but I’d rather replace pads than rims.

Harris Cyclery is always on top of whatever is being offered.

So am I, here is what I’m using http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=3689826741&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT

My rim did have some oil on it from the chain but my Shimano pads worked fine.

are you using them on aluminum rims or carbon. They are meant for carbon but I actually use them on both. I have no problems and I think the brake pretty well. Those are expensive pads if you’re using a standard rim. I’d buy the cheaper Koolstops, not the carbon Zipp version if your’e using regular wheels. And even on carbon the Koolstop black works almost as well as the Zipp and are much much cheaper

I’m using them on aluminum rims, what I noticed is that at the end of the pad “away from the seat” there is a little lip that hits the rim first then the front of the pad makes contact. With the lip it prevents the front of the pad from being really close to the rim maybe thats why I get no stoping power.

hmm, good point, I guess i do notice the squishyness from the lip a little. But you should still have plenty of power even with enough gap to clear the lip. What type of brakes and levers are you using?

I’m using ultegra with dia comp levers on cow horns. It’s just weird since my dura ace pads worked fine. Thanks for the help
