Koobi Tri Saddle

Old post
.

I’m pretty sure that the Koobi saddles have some kind of 30 day trial period where you can send the saddle back if you don’t like it or if it doesn’t work for you? Check their site for details…

You may also want to consider the new Profile Design Tri-Stryke saddle. It got a very good review here by Dan (although I think that was lost with some server mishap?). I’ve been riding one for a week or so now and am liking it too. VERY thick padded nose and it has a cut out too. Not bad for ~$80!

profile saddle is very narrow 130mm from what I’ve read and I didn’t measure it while I had one but I believe it.

didn’t support my bones at all.
hated it.

but I 'm bigger than most.

just bought a cervelo special otherwise known as selle italia t1. it’s a little wider from what I read so hopefully it will work for me

the koobi is about the same size as a flite I think.

it’s hard to find measurements online but I think I read the koobi is 143mm wide same as a flite.

Best saddle I’ve used. Used to only ride specialized minkow wedge things. Have had a Koobi for several months and it’s
a) comfortable right out the box
b) not too wide
c) has a cut out
d) the suspension aspect of it is incredible - takes out all the little bumps

love it and can’t recommend it more highly

Mine is very comfortable, to me. Since saddles are such a personal thing and Koobi has a 30 money back guarantee they are worth looking into. (Just keep in mind that it’s 30 days from the date on the packing slip). I did a metric century after having mine for a week and knew that I had found my saddle.

I like it for these reasons also. I just converted a friend and she loves it too.

I’ve never understood how people ride on the tip of the saddle. I just got the new profile saddle and while the cutout helps some, the nose of the saddle still puts pressure on my unit when on the aero bars. Every saddle I’ve tried does that though…to one degree or another. Is this normal for the tri position?? ugh.

I have a Koobi Au Enduro on my time trial bike. Liked it when I first put it on but after a few months the cut-out actually started to bother me. Put on a DeSoto cover and now its sweet again. I tried an Arione (the regular one, not the tri specific) but didn’t like it. Put it on my road bike where its great.

i think you’re supposed to get the nose up between your leg and your genetalia. I just had to say that.

GENETALIA.

anwway, I tried that and hate it. my goal is a saddle that supports the same bones my road saddle supports so well, which will have to be a slightly narrower saddle I think.

Riding on the tip of a saddle for me has always been most comfortable and right now I wish I hadn’t changed saddles. I attempted to ride the Airone Tri saddle like it was designed, more in the middle to back. Now I’m dealing with a bruised perineum and am actually sitting ontop of an ice bag… Damn the boys are cold…

Being a “pearched” rider I have found that when the saddle actually sits to the side of the perinuem and the leg I can ride for hours without any numbness or pain. However, this past weekend I rode 100+ miles (2 rides) trying to figure out how to ride the Airone in the center. At one point the boys were so numb I actually had to get off the bike for 5 minutes to get the blood flowing… I rode yesterday and today and I’m barely able to stand sitting on the saddle.

I know the nose is made nice and cushy on some tri saddles…but that still is not very comfortable for me. i’ve tried sitting up there, but no way could I stand doing it for very long. but…maybe I’m not getting it in the right spot.

My goal is the same as yours…a tri saddle that allows you to sit on your sit bones without cutting of the circulation and putting pressure on my genetalia. I don’t know if that’s possible given the angles…but it would be nice.

genetalia.

So does that mean you have to sit off to one side or the other while “pearched” out on the tip?

I just bought a koobi tri saddle, and I LOVE it

after trying the c2 selle italia, the cervelo special , the tri-stryke, the azoto, the aspide, the fizik, the velo, I think that’s all of them - EBAY is wonderful thing - I finally found the one that works.

when I sit on this saddle, I feel the bones hitting the saddle, as opposed to feeling the saddle pushing up into my soft tissues,in other words, it fits.

It’s soo good, I went out and got the koobi road saddle too - it’s got the same shape and measurements, it’s just all leather and a little less padded.

I 'm ecstatic. I can’t wait to ride again.

I’ve not ridden much of late–out of the net past 18months per se. Before that however, rode Koobi Tri saddle for several years. Very happy with it. Did IMFL, GCT, Honu with it. Works very well for me riding in aero position. Very comfortable.

regards

I have nothing to compare it to other than $100 bikes as this is my first year on a real bike, but I’m happy with the saddle. It’s not too heavily padded, which I actually find to be more comfortable. I generally sit back on the butt bones and I’m in pretty good shape getting off the bike (rode as much as 116 miles for a ride this year). There are lots of really good reviews on roadbikereview.com that might give you some more information too.

I’ve used the koobi Tri with some success but have had more success with the selle smp strike pro saddle.

www.sellesmp.com. There channel down the center of the seat is wider than koobi, more room for your junk.

Problems with selle smp… too damn expensive… too many curves but I still like it better than koobi.

Just my opinion on another option…
