Kona slot breakdown in AZ

Does anyone know how many slots were allotted to each each age for AZ? I’m particularly interested in women 50-54, but I’m sure other people are interested in the rest.

I would like to like to know as well, allocation isn’t for another 3 hours.

Not official but here’s my estimation

Your calculator is flawed. Rounding is improper math for prorated allocation of a discrete number of entities. When rounding, an AG with 0.51 would get 1 while an AG with 15.49 would get 15, which is wrong. The AG with 0.51 is less close to getting a slot then the AG with 15.49 is to getting a 16th. With rounding, in addition to giving slots away incorrectly, you may end up giving away too few or too many based on how the rounding works out.

The correct approach is to always truncate (round down) and then divvy out any remaining slots, in order, to the next most “deserving” AGs until slots are exhausted. The next most deserving slot is determined by re-calculating with one more slot (ie, 51) and see where it goes. Repeat until all done.

The women always get more than you think too…

That’s because it’s not really a pro-rated distribution. It’s a 42% equal distribution across all AGs and a 58% pro-rated distribution. And, you’ve got a lot of empty AGs to thank for the 58% being that high; in many races it’s even lower. The smaller AGs benefit from the equal distribution component relative to everyone else.

Anyone have the final Roll Down/Allocations… ?

would like to see how the slots were awarded by WTC.

Only one I know for sure is the M60-64, 2 slots rolled down to 3.

Unlike in the past, they didn’t post a sheet - just did the slot allocation orally with rolldowns at the same time. However, your table looks very close to actuals (based on memory), but not exactly because of your calculator. The M75-79 slot was reallocated, I believe, to M40-44, and the M80-84 slot was reallocated to M50-54 (I know this for a fact).

So WTC doesn’t round up, but the effect seems to be similar when reallocation comes into play.

I don’t remember all the rolldowns, but the winner of M35-39 did turn down his slot, and I believe the winner of M45-49 did too.

Must be a race director thing. At both IM Raleigh 70.3 and IM Chattanooga, they posted the allocation sheet for everyone to see. But both those races have the same RD: Brian Myrick (endurathonrd on ST).

Actually there was a sheet posted on one of the semi trailers outside the ceremony area. I didnt get a photo of it, but it was in a weird spot where no one would see it. Based on what I remember your allocation is pretty much exactly how it played out.
