how far does the roll down go in the 30-34 AG?
any chance with a top 20 (bottom part) ? (usually 10-12 slots)
doubtful - you can look at results from past years to see.
Not a chance! Last year only one roll down.
less those who didn’t go…last slot went to 14th in AG and they have more slots this year…
Crazy stuff. 18 guys 30-34 went sub-10. Wasn’t someone saying these races were getting slower? Not.

the athlete I coach is the first one not under 10h !darn…not bad first IM though

It seems like they need to reevaluate how Kona slots are assigned. 10hrs should get you in no matter what place you come in. Probably 11hrs for women.
And whats up with the bizarre roll-down system? You know whats going to happen…your bud is going to be like 2-3 minutes after the last M30-34 qualifier. And yet, some other less represented (and competitive) AG is going to have a few people skip the awards banquet and some slot is going to roll down like an hour past the person who would have last qualified (by order finished in AG).
I don’t have a problem with the AG system but it seems like they should award slots to the first XX number of finishers in each AG (as they do now) and then each slot that is turned down or not claimed should go into a general pool of rolldown slots that are then redistributed to people in order of the amount of time they came in behind the last qualifier in their AG (independent of specific AG). WAY BETTER.

CDA had 10 spots in that age-group - roll down starts after the awards lunch at 1:00 PM. Z
I totally agree! Especially in AG like 30-34. This year at IM CDA 10th place was 9:48! That is 4 moin. faster than last year.
Although, on positive note 5 guys turned down the slots, so it rolled down to like 17th place. So, I think all the sub 10 guys got a slot!
