Is the requirement that participants racing Kona complete a half or full within one year of the race OR within the same calendar year of the race?
“Athletes who are SELECTED in the lottery must have completed a LONG distance (1/2 Ironman distance or greater) event within one year previous to the 2004 Ironman World Championship to validate his/her lottery slot. Lottery winners should plan on completing the validating race before August 31, 2004, and all validations should be in the Kona Office prior to August 31, 2004. The validating race does not have to be an Ironman Qualifier, however it should be sanctioned by USAT if in the US or by the Governing Federation for international events. Failure to comply will result in forfeiture of the slot.”
