If you fly from inside the US do you need a passport?
Is it possible to rent a bike there? I ride a fairly stock 61cm P3, if I brought my pedals, cranks, and maybe wheels would it be easier than bringing my own bike? or possible?
thanks for any help, getting a little nervous trying to make late arrangements…
if you haven’t reserved a bike by now, you might be out of luck. by the way, renting a bike there might be as expensive if not more expensive than renting a car.
i guess I don’t understand why you’d want to rent a bike? Isn’t it just cheaper to bring your own? Also I don’t know about you, but I’d rather train and/or race on MY bike that I know how good or badly it’s been cared for.
You could buy a bike at Wal-Mart in Kona and donate it before you leave. That has become a popular option in recent years. That’s assuming you’re not racing of course…
because we cant go until the wednesday before i thought it could be easier. i like my bike, but really it is stock other than the wheels, cranks, and petals so any 61cm P3 would be have been fine.
I live in Canada, but very close to the boarder. We are going to drive to Spokane and fly from there, just a little nervous about flying with no passport.
No passport, it’s a state - not a country.
Don’t know about bike rental, sorry.
‘State’ actually meant at that time ‘Country.’ (It actually still does, but it’s meaning has been blurred.) It was actually the ‘United Countries of America’. That’s why the small ‘countries’ insisted on a Senate so they would have equal representation in at least one deliberative body. Also why certain rights were reserved to the states in the constitution.
Robert E. Lee joined the confederacy because his ‘country’ seceeded. Back then people primarily considered themselves to be citizens of their states–countries.

For someone racing Kona, it seems that you are putting too many variables to chance.
If I were racing Kona, I would have everything planned down to the smallest detail - from my bike to the length of my pinky toenail.
Ahhh… to be as strong as you and have that chance…
