and wondered why age groupers are interspersed amongst the pros as are the men and women pros. Any idea as to how the numbers were assigned this year. Seems to make no sense unless this is in order of qualifying times, except for the first 10.
Oh, and I noticed Dave Harju listed, even though he is also, ostemsibly, listed for IMF.
I noticed that Dave Harju was listed as well when I was looking at the list to see how many fellow Canadians were racing. I figured that he was going to be there anyway since his girlfriend is racing and probably decided to give it a try or at least race part of it.
If i am not mistaken the top 100 from the previous year receive numbers in the order placing, pro or amateur … some of the top 100 #'s are celebrity or invite then after #100 it is usually leftover pros and then alphabetical in some shape or form.
The athletes that finished in the first 100 places (Pro and AG) are given seeded numbers according to their 2003 finish place. After that there is a few “special interest athletes” that are in the upper 100s.
The age group numbers are assigned first by by age group, year of birth, then alphabetically by first name. Starting with the oldest to youngest. How about that for cracking the code?

Why can’t he do both? He has already done Roth, IM Lake Placid, IM WI. (Maybe others?) Joe Bonness isn’t the only one who can do multiple IM.

Dave Harju raced today… Well after thoughts lets say that it was training run, I’m guessing that he did a long bike ride the day before… http://www.sportstats.ca/res2004/fcmh.htm
