Kona in the mainstream press = FAIL

You mean this epic fail?

Epic fail? It is on par with any other ESPN coverage of a triathlon. They have no contacts within the sport because they think it’s a “fringe sport”, so they have no insight into it.

It is a fringe sport, at least in the U.S., and I don’t have a problem with that.

Did you catch the coverage of the World Track and Field Champs and the winner of the triple jump? Or who won the ICU World Champs women’s elite road race? Both huge events as far as the rest of the world is concerned but not so much for us here in North America. This concern that triathlons and Ironman races don’t get the respect they deserve has been going on since 1978. Don’t take it so personal. Enjoy and embrace the sport and be proud you are part of it.

(p.s. the triple jump winner was an American AND when I Googled ICU (International Cycling Union) the first post that comes up is for the ICU - International Cheer Union. So Google feels we are more interested in cheerleading than cycling)

The ICU, haha. International Cycling Union is the English translation of Union Cycliste Internationale. English speakers still refer to it as the UCI.

So Google feels we are more interested in cheerleading than cycling)

Aren’t we?
