Curious if anyone can find ONE mainstream news site referencing yesterday’s epic race and new course record…
Triathlon == Rodney Dangerfield

It’s Al Davis’ fault!
There are very few things less exciting than triathlon…on that list is an 8 hour triathlon. I’m glad it’s not covered…it makes it more intestine for the 25 Ochs who actually care
You mean this epic fail?

People may not find it exciting to watch (I do, but hey…), but you don’t have to cover the race minute-by-minute in order to publish a news story about those epic performances. (But, as previous poster pointed out, there are news stories out there in the mainstream press.)
If either of the winners were American then the American press would likely be all over it. No Americans = nobody cares in America. I’m sure it is big news in Australia and England.
Crowie, the winner, is listed as being from the USA residing in Boulder,CO on the Ironman results page. WE know he is from Australia, but not everyone in the press would know that.

You’re assuming that anyone in the media would go to the Ironman results page.
CW gets coverage on the BBC website and will probably get coverage in the newspapers, but not on TV. The only country that seems to gave IM mainstream coverage is Germany. The German IM is covered live and Faris was mention ed on the news for winning.

Epic fail? It is on par with any other ESPN coverage of a triathlon. They have no contacts within the sport because they think it’s a “fringe sport”, so they have no insight into it.
Sorry I thought that pink was implied ![]()

No contacts other than Macca has been shooting for them all week.
The sooner we stop caring about what is or isn’t said in the “mainstream” press, the better off we will all be.
USA today had a small box in the corner of the sports section on Tuesday the 4th noting that the race was on the 8th. It also showed the previous male course record time and record splits. To answer your question, no, nothing today.
An American-centric point of view perhaps? Why would the US media cover the results when no US elites did anything?

Bahaha. No accusations of doping? I thought that’s what l’equipe did?
Sometimes. Mostly to those who deserve it and have way too much shit going on around them. And l’Equipe is
EO/AA. They go equally against men, women, whites, blacks, Americans, French… ![]()
Anything else?
Did you catch the coverage of the World Track and Field Champs and the winner of the triple jump? Or who won the ICU World Champs women’s elite road race? Both huge events as far as the rest of the world is concerned but not so much for us here in North America. This concern that triathlons and Ironman races don’t get the respect they deserve has been going on since 1978. Don’t take it so personal. Enjoy and embrace the sport and be proud you are part of it.
(p.s. the triple jump winner was an American AND when I Googled ICU (International Cycling Union) the first post that comes up is for the ICU - International Cheer Union. So Google feels we are more interested in cheerleading than cycling)
It’s Al Davis’ fault!
Might be the post of the day!
