Kona 2025: The Bikes of the Fastest Pro Riders

Would be interested to know which of these are sponsored by that bike company (likewise with the swimskin post). Do you have the info on what bike shoes they were wearing?

Almost everyone here has a bike sponsor.

For shoes, Shimano, Specialized, EKOI were pretty popular. Almost always in a traditional road shoe with BOA enclosures.

“lack of understanding” More like the opposite, anyone with a bit of common sense realizes that it is (at the moment and for road/tri) an inferior technology compared to hooked wheels, so doesn’t make any sense if given the option to have hooked wheels. I have to hand it to ST, you guys are relentless at pushing this stuff, but I don’t think anyone here is buying it

I mean.. some of you think that 25mm tires are the only choice as well. So.. What can I say. some of the fastest crit racers in the world are on ZIPP at the moment.

leonie konczalla is the onlly athlete from what i can see that does not have a bike logo on her suit.

I don’t believe Hannah, Regan or Leonie have bike sponsors. so 12 of the top 15 bike splits.

You often see only 60-70% of the top 10 women at WC events with a bike sponsor. Has trended a bit higher with men (~90%).

Leonie: DMT KT1, Cadomotus Chronos, Laura might be a Northwave Tribute 2.

Cervelo was listed as a “partner” on this post pre-race for Hannah. https://www.instagram.com/p/DPrNeuTgu0P/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MWczNTU2ZmYzdGZzMA==

Leonie also was doing some Speedmax associated tagging / branding around Hamburg; whether that meant anything is another story. Her kit seemingly has logo changes on a race by race basis, though.

Anyways.

Are we back to John Cobb slammed position?

To our resident aero people

who would you say in pictures above with the lowest CDA?

Top 3 lowest CDAs?

why not make a few guesses yourself

Would it be possible to add frame size and rider height to the summary (may require calling the athletes but I think it would round out the article)

Not at all an aero expert, my guess is Kat from these photos.

She’s small, light and has the money to go to the tunnel a lot. The way the helmet sits on her shoulders / neck looks really good. She’s got the new 85mm DT Swiss wheels on front and back, a custom cockpit and the custom rear bottle fairing which its a very fast package.

Indie, Laura and Steph also look pretty good to my eyes. Lucy is probably up there as well with all the time she spent in the tunnel.

Correct regarding Regan- no bike sponsor as of yet!

How much of an advantage do riders using the super deep Hed rear wheel have?

Thanks
I would have assumed that given her coach was trek sponsored she likely got a free frame ?

You often see only 60-70% of the top 10 women at WC events with a bike sponsor. Has trended a bit higher with men (~90%)

And even then there the question is , how are they sponsored, by a bike shop, do they get a free bike , a free bike and bonuses , or even a salary.
