OK, so I go the whole season and finish IMFL without any knee pain and now all of a sudden I develop left knee pain the very next day after taking my P3SL for it’s maiden ride. I tried to duplicate the same set-up as the bike I rode all summer and in IMFL but something must’ve been off. I now have this horrible pain to the medial aspect of my patella. It’s worse when I go from sitting to standing up as I load my left leg with weight and try to straighten the leg up. Of course, just light pedaling on the bike makes it hurt also. I have been resting it the past 4 days but I haven’t seen any improvement and I’ve been doing the Ibuprofen thing as well. I’m thinking it’s probably tendonitis or a patellar tracking problem. I just don’t know why all of a sudden this popped up. Do you think one short 20 mile ride could do this? Any ideas, similar experiences, suggestions? Thanks.
Changed your distance in front of the BB? That whacked my knee once.
Changed your cleats, maybe?

After an IM it’s generally reccomended that you do nothing for a about a week.
-
After an IM your muscles and joints are really traumatized and just about everything is not working properly.
-
It sounds like you may have a tracking problem with the patella. Reason: see number 2
-
relax and rest
-
If the problem does not clear up with #4 then try doing some light weight leg extentions with the sore leg ONLY working the final 30 degrees to horizontal.

Rest and relax

Make sure set up on the new bike is right, but wait until you have FULLY recivered from IMFlorida.

what Aztec and Fleck said.
I’d say with 90% sure that you have runner’s knee. It fits your description like a glove. 4 days? You better start thinking of weeks and not in days. Check out the article about this injury in www.runnersworld.com . It will help you a lot.
It will only you do more harm if you bike or run so just stand still! The best you can do is swim with a pull buoy and even it should probably make your knee hurt on the turn-overs.
Oh and the “oficial name” for it is Chronomalacia something. ![]()
