Knee pain question (3)

My friend was running a race and while running down hill she felt a pop in her left knee and she had to walk a little but, but then it kind of “loosened” up and she could continue running. Now…for the last week and a half. Everytime she comes downstairs she has pain and if she tries to run…when she pushes off she has pain. The pain is right below the knee cap.

Do any of you know what this may be? Thanks

she should see a orthopedist and not seek out medical attention on an internet forum.

She’s not bleeding profusely man. Just looking to see if anyone had a similar experience.

Runners knee?
patella Tendonitis (jumper’s knee)?
Bursitis?

All flare up from downhill, in my experience

I vote meniscal tear.

Dave

When I tore my ACL I heard a loud pop. Not that she tore her ACL but it may be some other type of tear. If it persists then MRI.

go see an ortho, and get an mri done. probably shouldn’t be running on it either.

Sounds like a subdermal hematoma, some embrocation cream should fix it.

When I tore my ACL, not only did I her the pop but the pain was extremely intense. It was “pound the snow and use language I Don’t want to use around anyone else” kind of pain. And thre is no way I could have ever run with it. I couldn’t walk without help. I would rather break my leg than go through another torn ACL.

I have something similar that happens. My knees are seriously messed up thanks to some genetics. The key for me is to foam roll it. I’d get it checked but sometimes an overly tight hamstring can cause this to me.
