My wife says that her knee begins to hurt around 40 minutes into a run and on all downhills. She also complained that it hurt when she was wearing high heels this past weekend. Her knee does not hurt on the bike at all. As far as I can tell the pain is somewhere on the outside of the knee. Does anyone have any experience with this type of pain?
This is pretty hard to diagnose over the internet… not that most of us are doctors or physical therapists!!! I would send her down to a good PT or athletic trainer.
I can tell you from my experience that it’s possibly ITB problems (google it), although most people (not me) find it hurts biking too. Could also be muscle imbalance problems.
Again–go to the professionals! Don’t muck around with knees.
She is going to see a doctor and will hopefully get a MRI. The reason I am asking the questios is because I want to see what type of responses I get.
Gotcha… well I’m sure they will take care of it. Regardless of what’s wrong, I would advise laying off the runing for a while and checking into muscle imbalances, etc…
If doc you see thinks its ITB (Iliotibial Band) Syndrome, search this forum as its been covered before…
